Ex-aide slams Palin in leaked manuscript

By Emi Kolawole

A leaked, unfinished manuscript by a former aide to Sarah Palin claims the former Alaska governor and Republican vice presidential candidate broke state election law during her 2006 gubernatorial campaign.

The Anchorage Daily News reports that Frank Bailey, a former Alaska Airlines supervisor who joined Palin's 2006 gubernatorial campaign, has been working on a memoir titled "In Blind Allegiance to Sarah Palin: A Memoir of our Tumultuous Years" with California author Ken Morris and Jeanne Devon, publisher of the anti-Palin Web site Mudflats.

Bailey, who has never been interviewed publicly following his work with Palin, reportedly provides details of some of the 60,000 e-mails he sent to or received from Palin, including an e-mail in which then-governor Palin wrote "I hate this damn job." The Daily News goes on to report that the manuscript, more than 500 pages long, was supplied to the news organization by multiple sources, first by author Joe McGinniss, who is writing his own book critical of Palin.

Literary agent Carol Mann of the Mann Agency in New York wrote to the Daily News saying the manuscript was "not a finished draft and there isn't a pub date yet!" Devon also posted to her blog Friday writing:

The draft manuscript has apparently been leaked to the media without the knowledge or permission of any of the authors, or the literary agents. We on this end are shocked and horrified that this has happened, but the toothpaste is out of the tube as they say. So, now there's a little intrigue added to this story, which we certainly would not have chosen, and the consequences of which are yet to be known.

In that post Devon also posted a quote from co-author Ken Morris:

"One thing I'd like to be very clear about is that the leak was not in any way approved, and the team will protect our rights in the material to the fullest extent of the law. We will seek all legal recourse available against those responsible and those that continue the unauthorized spread of the content."

The Daily news reports that Bailey details claims of illegal actions on the part of Sarah Palin during her 2006 campaign, claiming Palin coordinated with the Republican Governors Association -- something candidates are not allowed to do under election law. Bailey also reportedly writes that Palin's husband Todd Palin asked him if he had thought of serving as Palin's chief of staff.

Bailey goes on to write of his disillusionment after his involvement in the "Troopergate" scandal, an investigation as to whether Palin had abused her power as governor when she dismissed public safety commissioner Walt Monegan. A state legislative investigator found Palin had abused her executive power in the case.

I sincerely hope Ms. Palin wins the Republican primary and runs in 2012 for POTUS. First, it will make SNL better than ever. Secondly, President Obama will have no problem being reelected. Honestly people you can't possibly think this woman has a clue!! Please pay attention to what comes out of her mouth. She is what my grandmother would have called a "tart". She has charisma, I give her that, but then again so did Adolph Hitler. yikes.

Can't the people at the WP read? Mudflats is not strictly an "anti Palin" website as this article purports. Palin did indeed break the law as this article is reporting. Yet, who will hold her accountable? The people of the USA (especially republicans) are so sick and steeped in narcissism and co-dependency that no one holds anyone accountable anymore. Palin needed to be held accountable for inciting the violence in Tuscon and she was not. The dysfunctional wrong opinion of the masses was that Palin drawing gun sites over people's faces and inciting her sheep to violence was no problem....not illegal. After all, Palin is only exercising free speech right? Wrong again. Here again, Americans are in a collective trance and the trance is caused by narcissism and co-dependency...the human condition. Characteristic of these conditions is a lack of boundaries, lack of accountability, and black and white dichotomous thinking. Freedom of speech is not license to spew toxic, violence inciting rhetoric and their needs to be laws that limit free speech. Palin is such a stupid, narcissistic moron that the fact she is even in the public'c consciousness speaks volumes about how unintelligent and psycho spiritually sick the average American is. The media loves Palin, who is a cash cow$$$. Palin is like the WWF of politics.

You need to get out more. Please do some fact-checking on the state of these investigations. Hint: you will be embarrassed. Not to mention, she filed the biggest, most expensive one on herself. So she filed a "bogus" charge on herself? Seems like the one thing she got right.

As Governor of Alaska Sarah Palin did not earn $150,000 per annum. She earned $125,000 per annum. The Alascan board who review state salaries recommended a rise to $150,000, but Governor Palin declined to accept. In the meantime Alaskan lawmakers accepted a rise of 100%. Has any governor in US history refused a salary rise? So much for Sarah negative meme No. 60 "Sarah the greedy". Libs--i guess you are going to have to make something else up.

Nipit is upset...

Palins’ early retirement from the Governors seat was motivated in part by Democratic (Soros-funded) efforts to bankrupt her family.

She had accumulated a half-million dollars in legal bills (4 times her annual salary) fighting frivolous ethics complaints allowed under a liberal Alaskan law (since revoked).

Over 15 ethics complaints and 150 FOIA requests were filed just after she became the VP nominee.

One complaint against her was for talking to reporters about the presidential campaign while she was in the governor's office.

Another objected to her office press secretary offering a statement to clarify a statement put out by her political action committee.

One complaint is that Palin wore snow-machine gear advertising her husband Todd's sponsor, Arctic Cat Inc, while "in her official duties as governor" when she served as the "official starter" of the race.

One ethics complaint is that her supporters legal donations were being used “gasp” to defend against frivolous ethics complaints.

I suggest Nipit actually READ Palin's autobiography to understand her.

Stanley Fish, the liberal New York Times reviewer "found it compelling and very well done."

Palins book has been extensively "fact-checked" by the Associated Press (11 reviewers). A concentration of scrutiny AP never exerted over the man who's actually is in the White House. Of course, no major controversies exposed.. darn !!

Palin is a quitter ?
Governor Palin held elected positions in Alaska far longer than Obama did as a US Senator before he ran for the presidency.

Governor Palin faced Soros-funded Democrats who backed a nonstop campaign of frivolous lawsuits against her. She had to personally pay …as required under Alaskan law … On a salary of $150K, her family incurred debts of a half-million. That law in Alaska has since been changed so that Democrats can never do the same thing to another Governor.

Palin left her job after two and half years – handing it to a Republican who has since been easily elected as Governor.

She took new jobs and entered politics in the lower 48… made millions and helped Tea Party Republicans take back the House in a historic victory over Democrats in Nov. 2010. But people here call her stupid ? : )

Because no American court would disgrace itself in any award to such a disgusting individual.

Just because this 'thing' champions her 'tea party' does not make her or them right.

Palin in one of 60,000 emails said she hated her job ? That would be "scandalous" if not a sentiment shared occasionally by well most people in America : )

He was "disillusioned" by the firing of a repeat wife-beater ?

Wow ! Its a good thing she never was a member of the KKK, a serial adulterer, or left someone to die in the back of her car... heck than she'd qualify for President of the United States ! like some liberal Democrats we know : )

Sarah Palin quit her post as governor of Alaska. Why would anyone want her to serve our nation in a position of greater responsibility? Had Palin completed her term she could have provided objective evidence of her fitness for higher office. That's part of her dilemma. She would have been totally exposed as an ill-prepared politican. The candidate that screams loudest it's the best qualified to lead.

After the post Tuscon attempt to 'blood libel' Governor Palin, polls showed that her 'unfavourables' rose to 56%. Left wing pundits and GOP establishment types declared her 'unelectable' in 2012 (the aim of blood libelling her in the first place).

Today, according to Rasmuessan, President Obama's 'disapproval' numbers are up at 54%. By the same logic he is unelectable in 2012.

There is this difference. Obama achieves this level of negativity with 90% of media slobbering over him like love sick school kids. The same 90% of media have subjected Gov Palin to an unprecendented level of calumny.

Truth will out.

you are confused. a candidates "unfavorables" is the number of voters who affirmatively dislike them, and are never remotely likely to vote for them. No canditate I am aware of has ever been elected with an "unfavorable" ranking anywhere near Palin's

Obama's rating is on the "do you approve of the job he is doing as president" which is a very volatile figure. His rating is much higher than either Reagan's or Clinton's at comparable points in their first terms, and we know how their reelection campaigns turned out.

The members of the Alaskan Personnel Board, which adjudicates on ethics issues was not personally chosen by Governor Palin. They were appointed by her predecessor Frank Murkowski, whom Palin had defeated in the GOP primary. He was certainly no friend of Governor Palin. As for this leaked manuscript, it is sufficient to know that noted Palin hater Jeanne Devon is co-author to know that it is not worth the paper it is written on.

Sarah announced that she was cleared of ALL alleged wrong-doings she was accused of. We know that from her ethics board made up of her friends appointed by Sarah herself.

Her public mocking of individuals, including towards the President of the USA:
She said he had no testicles, not using the word in English, resorting instead to a very very coarse term in Spanish that no decent spanish speaking woman would ever use.
She said that reporters who spoke anonymously to Politico were "limp" and "impotent".
She called 2 radio producers in Alaska "bastards".
She constantly attacks the First Lady, calling her "some politician's wife", and lying about what the First Lady is promoting with regards to prevention of obesity, something you'd think Palin would be interested in after the embarrassment of DWTS.
She used the most vulgar of street terms to critique the President's State of the Union address.
She called the president "He Who Must Be Obeyed", and mockingly uses his middle name on FOX news interviews.

Keep it up Sarah, you're doing a wonderful job as the world's biggest hypocrite, grifter and liar ever born. Karma is a beetch ain't it?

It isn't funny McGee. If this is the intellectural level of the readers of this newspaper, whick claims to filter abuse then there is no journalism here. Just look at the base of the Democratic party. Public service unions, trial lawyers, 1-2% rich Wall St investment bankers and Hollywood elites, 1-2% Ivory Tower intellectuals, and Genetic Democrats (like those who reference FDR and Hoover). The remaining base includes some of the least educated, least successful, and least informed citizens in the country. If you live in a large urban area. Half the high school kids drop out before graduating. These people are not stupid in any way--like any population, under the proper circumstances, they might even be brilliant. They are, however, profoundly ignorant. They couldn't tell you what country is on our North. They couldn't name within 100 million people how many people reside in the US. Survey after survey has shown that the level of civic understanding amongst this group is abysmal. Yet, despite this, the primary intent of the "Get Out the Vote" is to get these, the most ill-informed group, to the polls.

Sarah Failin is running on and on and on about Big Government and cutting spending. She should start at home. Alaska takes in $3 of federal tax dollars for every $1 it sends to the feds. Let's cut off spending in Alaska completely.

palin was not found innocent of all charges against her.She overstepped her bounds by having people ask that her ex-brother-in -law be fired.,She had to pay the state money back because she fraudulently got it for staying home and also taking her kids when they were not invited. The only reason I saw her get away with others was because it was her hand picked people that were deciding things as for gorgeous I can name hundreds that beat her by a mile and they aren't ugly inside like she is.The mudflats is not an anti-palin site it is much much more than that.AKS goes after all wrongs not just palin, like the coal and gold mines they want in the salmon streams ect.Best read before ya put your foot in your mouth again.

According to some members of the Alaskan state legislature as well as key Republican consultants, strategists, and advisors who had to interact with Sarah during McCain's 2008 presidential campaign, Palin has a very short attention span and would often rapidly lose interest in the discussions during important meetings.

She seemed to lack the self-discipline necessary to get through the numerous mundanities required of the Governor. As a VP candidate, she rarely bothered to do her homework in preparation for an interview and to this day lacks the intellectual curiosity needed to fully understand the issues affecting the American people.

After her unsuccessful run for national office, she was entangied in frequent confrontations with the state legislative body on various contentious appointments that she had made. And once she lost support of many of the Republican state legislators over her refusal to accept the federal stimulus funding, she decided that being Governor just wasn't any fun anymore. (She actually alluded to this realization in one episode of her self-absorbed Alaskan infomercial series on TLC.)

Rather than get another political black eye and watch her declining public support among her fellow Alaskans plummet further, she decided to bail on her constituency and seek greener (as in $$) pastures in the lower 48.

Sarah Palin doesn't want to be a serious politician. She only wants to play one on T.V.

Watch for Palin to ignorantly and indignantly declare that the publication of this book will somehow be an infringement of her "freedom of speech".

One can use this book to compare the track record of Sarah Palin to that of Barack Obama before he became US President.

Obama's record in Chicago was painfully and embarassingly zero. He had accomplished nothing when compared that to Palin.

I am up to my eyeball with posted criticism of this mother of five Ms S Palin. If she is so bad and so many people have the goods on her then were is the indictment ? There is an old saying which is known to many about sticks & stones vs words. All I know is that thousands have been thrown out of work. The culprit is the Big Banks with their Securitization and derivatives. What has changed ? These banks are still there, with government aid, while small business have been decimated. Public employees have grown while small business employees go jobless. Bonuses & tax free benefits are still being provided. If we just stopped the tax free benefits, economists claim that would cause employment to increase. The self-reliant receive no such benefit under our tax code. Sarah Palin is not involved in any of this so why are we railing at a straw man .. look in the mirror folks you are acting like Don Quixote

Just curious: why is Cillizza's "the Fix" blog the only Post blog that (as we understand it) pre-screens the commenters (as opposed to moderating the comments). What's the justification?

The screening has achieved the host's purpose, we guess: the only comments on the Fix seem to be tweets from friends, cronies, BHO haters, and fans of Tim Pawlenty. It becomes a significant problem when the Post elects to report a political story, not as a regular article (which freely permits reader comments), but a post on the Fix (which severely restricts reader comments).

What gives, Washington Post? What's behind the odd commenter policy for the Fix blog.

This is just another attempt to make something out of nothing.

"It's not the politicians who suck, but, the public. Yeah, there's a campaign slogan, the public sucks, f(orget) hope." Said by George Carlin, so in the same vein as Ce Lo's recent song, you can figure out what was the substitute word for "forget" there.

Umm, who is at fault for releasing this woman on this country? Alaskans! What was the majority of the voting public thinking in putting her in office, and, what was the majority of Republicans in the rest of this country thinking in nominating McCain and letting him chose her as his running mate?

Face it, this is representation for Americans, and you get the irresponsible, narcissistic, clueless, reckless, and sheer insensitive idiots and bums that roam the halls of your state and federal legislative buildings.

So, maybe Carlin was right in saying he did not vote for two reasons: one, it really is garbage in and garbage out with every election cycle, and two, by not voting he had every right to complain about the poor choices you as current voters made. After all, you vote these crooks and idiots in and then reelect them as regularly as you use the toilet, so us voters who are literally drowned out by your incessant ramblings of party rhetorics are the victims, and have every right to tell you where to go.

It is unfortunate sites like this do not let me use the words that best illustrate the tone and direction. You readers with brains can figure out what I wanted to say!

Sarah Palin is a moron who cannot string an intelligent, insightful, thoughtful paragraph together off the cuff. The fact that some people in America have gone for the oke doke where she and others of her ilk are concerned says more about the people than her. She is just capitalizing on the sheep who will follow her. The fact that people listen to her, because she never says anything of value, says alot about the educational system in the United States.People would rather listen to Palin who has probably never picked up a book than to read and form their own opinions or listen to real news or learn about real world affairs or current events that affect their lives.

So far, my absolute favorite Sarah Palin quote:
"Last night, I'm in my hotel room, and I have my entourage with me. That would be Bristol, and I'm asking Bristol, you've got to Google some stuff for me, you've got to look up some stats and some figures for me, because it seems like the last couple days, everything that needs to be said, about this very poor and short-sighted budget proposal of our president's that's been presented to the public, everything's already been said," said Palin, according to excerpts of the speech posted by WNYC.

"At least in my world, I certainly understand he's on the wrong track," she added.

Key points in this - her 'entourage' consists of her twenty year old daughter, and her entire research for the facts of her speech is based on a quick Googling. She sums it all up quite nicely with the phrase "in my world". Sarah Palin's world isn't the real world, and her knowledgeable staff is one experienced girl.

Evita Palin will be an excellent President. She should definitely run, because she embodies the nativist feelings of the anti-intellectual Right, and gives form to their vague hatred of government itself. She is very human in form, very impulsive in her communication, and that connects with her base.

Feb. 19, 2011....I just listened to a speech she (Palin) gave at an Alaska AFL-CIO conference three years ago where she praised us union leaders, and stated “I think it’s a healthy perspective I have on all this. It’s got to be the employers, the employees, the unions, the university, private sector businesses, and state government all working together on this. I’m not gonna let obsessive politics, or personalities get in the way of that."

This, apparently, is no longer part of her ideology.
Since going to Fox News, she must have signed a clause that requires her to bash union leaders and call them "union bosses" yet always making sure to pander to the rank and file member whenever she has an opportunity, which has been frequently lately. Not coincidentally, she never used the term "union boss" until she was on the Fox News payroll. The more incendiary sounding, the better I guess.
She is no friend of working families. Talking out of both sides of her mouth comes way too easily, and is an injustice to those who trust her.

What's amazing is that is has taken this long for the information to come out. Anyone with a grain of sense knew stuff was happening in the background with that woman - still is, as a matter of fact. The whole troopergate thing - it was basically a Hatfield/McCoy issue until she got angry about the abuse of power finding by the otherwise powerless bi-partisan committee, and she dismissed them and handpicked friendlier people who decided she was not guilt. That alone is abuse of power.

Should she officially throw her hat in the ring for POTUS, we'll start seeing all sorts of juicy stuff about her, not just the crap from people like Levi Johnston.

But, she won't run. She can't stand it when people know the truth about her. She's insecure enough about her own personal fiction.

While this book, when published, will probably be interesting it won't have much effect.

That's because Sarah is aborting herself from any run in 2012 and she'll be toast before the book's publication. Afterwards the book may provide some much needed examples of Sarah's machinations (the emails). It won't convince any of her sheople but that's ok.

It continues to AMAZE me how so many men seem to put her so-called exterior looks - those legs, winks, curves, etc as their number one reason for her to be President. Do they honestly think her sitting down with a Putin or Ahmadinejad and using her feminine wiles will sway them? While winking and uncrossing her legs ala Sharon Stone MIGHT have an effect on them it would no doubt confirm their thinking that we're becoming a third world misogynistic country.

Sarah and the Palinbots need to get used to this. The truth is coming out fast and furious and will continue coming out each day. This is nothing compared to what will be told about her if she foolishly decides to run for POTUS. Alaskans are no longer afraid of the quitter and are ready to tell the truth.

Amazingly Sarah's ex-brother in law and his bedwarmer Walt Monegan weren't gutted, stuffed and hung on the wall like dead seals.

Right?

This guy has nothing to complain about either.

Frankly, this cottage industry for perverts that allows them to make money attacking the Palin family is disgusting. Besides, all it does is open up all the children of all the other political families to abusive comments.

All of this stuff and much more will hit the media once Ms. Palin decides to run for POTUS. She would be wise to stay out of the race and continue her lucrative talking-head career away from peril. Only her ego will prevent common sense on her part.
