Keith Olbermann launches new nonprofit news Web site

By Emi Kolawole

Former MSNBC prime-time host Keith Olbermann launched a new Web site Friday night, giving new life to his "Worst Person In the World" feature and going after FOX News.

The site is called the "FOK News Channel," a crude wordplay on the FOX News Channel, which Olbermann has frequently gone after, and a group of Olbermann's supporters who use the acronym "FOK" for "Friends of Keith."

Olbermann announced Tuesday via Twitter that the site would be forthcoming writing "proud to announce: Coming very very soon - your FokNewsChannel website."

After Olbermann abruptly left MSNBC in January, where he hosted the network's prime-time program, "Countdown." Olbermann signed on to join CurrentTV, the public-affairs network co-founded by former vice president Al Gore and Joel Hyatt. Olbermann is the network's chief news officer and will host a one-hour prime-time show weeknights on the network.

Big deal. The loser couldn't make it in the TV world. Now his audience of seven can read his mewling and puking on his silly website.

Brilliant. No one gives more than Keith Olbermann.
We missed you. Forget late shows, internet news, or warm bowls of chili on a cold night in front of the television.
Americans need their Keith.
Now he is giving it to us with FOK

Chances are pretty good that under any circumstances Keith's new website would be "nonprofitable". His recent track record is going from one unprofitable media outlet to another.

He is an obnoxious twit. Those of you who like him are pobably birds of a feather mouth-breathing retards.

jaxas70 you've been spewing the same unprovable, discredited crap for a long time ...

f/y/i Limbaugh's audience consists of a variety of people, including many liberals and independents. That's why he is successful, not because of any of the silly crap you vomited.

Ahhh ya'll, come on - I like Keith Olberman and I miss his show and I don't know why he left MSNBC or why the network would let him get away. It was reported that it was a mutual decision, but I find that hard to believe. In the long run, I think it will hurt MSNBC worse than Keith b/c they lost that one-two punch of Olberman and Maddow and I love Rachel's show b/c it is not only entertaining, but she really breaks things down into easily understandable terms. She also gets to the root of issues. I'll check out the current station and hopefully get my Keith fix, but I do have a question for MSNBC ... you get rid of Keith Olberman but keep Joe Scarborough? Now there is a jerk. I have no clue how he continues to get the kind of guests he gets - maybe they come on for Mika, but half the time she asks like she's still asleep. It amazes me the way she allows Joe to bully her. Definition of bullying = Joe Scarborough. Who's in charge at MSNBC? Maybe a mole from Fox?

Like it or not folks, Keith Olbermann has a devoted following. And in the narrow world of talk and opinion, that is all you need to be profitable and successful.

Rush Limbaugh is by all accounts a true idiot. The sum of his intellect can be found in his daily flinging of rancid meat to the hordes of bigots and racists, conspiracy nuts and fabulists, white supremacists and anarchists, rednecks and religious fanatics and all of the other goblolley of assorted loose screws that make up the far right. Limbaugh is a millionaire because there is a niche market for the toxic brew he stews up every day for this pathetic, sorry lot of losers.

All Olbermann is doing is feeding a similar addiction on the left for this narcotic mix of hatred, poison, suspicion and madness. It really doesn't take anything other than a voice that is loud and tailor made for this sort of talk. Both Limbaugh and Olbermann have booming voices and both are victims of a self reinforcing delusion that someday their passions for whatever it is they pretend to be passionate for becomes the majority view.

Limbaugh actually says it aloud: "I won't quit until everyone in America believes in the same things I believe in." Now that is a self reinforcing delusion if I have saw one! Colonel T. E. Lawrence (Lawrence of Arabia) once though he could harness the Arab mind to his passions. If Limbaugh or Olbermann could magically speak with Lawrence today, he would tell them: "Trust me on this. Nothing is written."

These last few comments must have been generated by one person over at FOX News. Could that many different individuals be so identical in their comments? Nope, the old right-wing hate machine is at it again.

Well shoot, Olbermann has so much experience in the "non-profit" area, it is a natural move for him and those 13 viewers whom watched his show on PMSNBC. Liberalism is not about profit anyway, it's about spouting certain philosophies that no one listens to anyway.

If the Government is telling us people under the age of 55 that our Social Security funds will not be there when we retire at 67-70 then why trust that the union’s retirement and health care funds will be funded. Are union people somehow more important to our government then the average Citizen? In other words if they will break a deal (Soc Sec) with every citizen in the country why do you think you are so special that you will get these inflated over blown benefits when they are due? I mean at least every citizen pays into Soc Sec. A lot of teachers pay nothing for their retirement and health care.
It’s a ponzi scheme of the worst kind because it’s run by the government and you can’t do anything to them. They know when they make these deals that they and the union reps that make them will get theirs and by the time we all get wise they will be long gone. Then its always someone else’s problem. The Unions have been too good at getting what they want from the elected officials they pay for. Now the cat is out of the bag that none of us can afford this.
The worst part is that states are really screwed because they can’t every print the money so when all these benefits are paid out it will consume 100% of their budgets. If your teacher taught you then do the math and add up what they are getting and when they retire and you will see that we cannot afford this. Even if we have to close public schools and go entirely private. Where do you get an extra 1000.00 per month in your personal budget? You can’t print it and neither can states. States really can’t borrow like the US Government. WHERE DO WE GET THE CASH TO PAY THESE UNIONS? At some point the money is not there and we are racing toward that day.
Let’s get some smart and talented people to do the math and figure out what a fair renegotiation is for our teachers and do the best we can for them without destroying the states that employ them.
Just because previous Union leaders and government officials have made deals with the devil (each other) doesn’t mean we should touch Collective Bargaining. They have the right to do this, we should hold our politicians accountable when they make deals that they know the next generation cannot pay.
It’s the American way for every American (alone or together) to fight for their needs and causes, it’s up to the government to do what is right for the people and not just their Union Supporters. Maybe it’s not right for public unions to contribute to the same officials they make deals with. I’m just saying.
