Oregon congressman David Wu sought medical help after unusual behavior

Oregon Democratic Rep. David Wu on Tuesday acknowledged sending "unprofessional" e-mails to his staff and said that he had sought medical assistance in October.

"Last October was not a good month, it was very stressful," Wu said in an interview on ABC's "Good Morning America." "I did some things, I said some things which I sincerely regret now. And as a result of those things, I saw fit to consult professional help. I got the help I needed then. I'm continuing to consult medical help as I need it, and I'm in a good place now."

Wu's statement Tuesday came in his first televised interview after The Oregonian and Willamette Week reported that the seven-term congressman had rebuffed demands from several of his longtime staffers that he seek psychiatric care in the run-up to Election Day due to his increasingly erratic behavior.

At least six of Wu's staffers have since left his office; The Oregonian reported Monday night that Wu had named himself treasurer of his campaign following the departure of Lesley Bennett, who had served in that job for four years.

According to The Oregonian, Wu's staffers first became alarmed when the congressman delivered a rambling 19-minute speech to Washington County Democrats on Oct. 27. Two days later, Wu reportedly convinced an employee at Portland International Airport to let him through security in order to meet his children, who were arriving from Washington; Wu proceeded to solicit votes from passengers at the gate.

Early the next morning, according to the Oregonian report, Wu sent odd emails to several of his staffers, including one with a picture of himself dressed as a tiger for Halloween. Wu acknowledged Tuesday that he sent the emails, which he called "very, very unprofessional."

"I think a take-home lesson from this is while they were very, very unprofessional, you shouldn't ever send photographs of yourself in a Halloween costume, something you intend to wear to a private party a couple of nights later," Wu said Tuesday. "It's just not professional, even when you're joshing around with your kids a couple of nights before Halloween. I did send those photographs. It was unprofessional; inappropriate."

He added that he has gotten himself "into a good place" and noted that in addition to taking care of his two children, he has also been caring for his 88-year-old mother. Wu and his wife, Michelle Maxine Wu, separated in December 2009.

Wu, 55, has represented Oregon's first district since 1999. He bested businessman Rob Cornilles (R) last November 55 percent to 42 percent, a wider-than-anticipated margin of victory in what was expected to be the toughest campaign of his congressional career.

Finally! Felicia covers a Democrat with a detailed posting. Too bad he may be mentally ill and this is not the way to either publicize him properly or get him help. Nice effort though.

Actually, it's you who don't understand what 'natural born citizen' means. The 14th Amendment is irrelevant to the discussion and the author of that amendment says precisely that:

To make the freed slaves citizens, naturalization was the only power the 14th Amendment granted Congress to use. Look it up in the Constitution. Congress had no intention and no authority to making everyone born under the 14th Amendment “a natural born citizen.” This is born out by Congressional records regarding the debate of the Fourteenth Amendment. By the chief architect of Section 1 of this amendment.

“I find no fault with the introductory clause, which is simply declaratory of what is written in the Constitution, that every human being born within the jurisdiction of the United States of parents not owing allegiance to any foreign sovereignty is, in the language of your Constitution itself, a natural born citizen; but, sir, I may be allowed to say further, that I deny that the Congress of the United States ever had the power or color of power to say that any man born within the jurisdiction of the United States, and not owing a foreign allegiance, is not and shall not be a citizen of the United States.” John A. Repeating this false propaganda over and over does not make it true. No matter what you might think there is no escaping that AKA Obama is not practicing the virtue of full disclosure.

Which is most likely;

(a) AKA OBAMA is hiding documents that are innocuous?
(b) AKA OBAMA is hiding documents that are damaging?

In 1961, the Public Health Services, U. S Department of Health, Education and Welfare, National Center for Health Statistics, National Vital Statistics Division published the "Vital Statistics of the United States.

What ought to REALLY get your interest is the fact that the Oregon Democratic Party full well knew about Wu for years. They knew about him before and during the election, knew he was a deranged lunatic, but they (and the state's Democratic controlled media) kept quiet about it because they were afraid of loosing a Democratic seat. They put party and self interest before country. What a bunch of cockroaches.

Wu is a certifiable mental case just like Patches Kennedy. This article does not even scratch the surface of describing Wu's insane shenanigans. How about mentioning that nearly all of Wu's campaign staff quit right after Wu was re-elected? Hmm? The man is dangerously unstable.

Disagree with his politics and try to get him voted out, but all this energy wasted in trying to pretend he isn't an American is misplaced. He is. You just don't like him for some reason. Yup, blame the dems. It's all our fault. Half this country is composed of lazy, freeloaders isn't it? Thank god we have a solid 30% of the country willing to toss their stock in with the hard working republican's to preserve the republican image of capitolistic republics. If it weren't for those republicans, we might be stuck with weekends, healthcare, clean air, water, national parks, higher college graduation rates, an educated populous, and other terrible socialist ideals!

Continue to point fingers, and hate your fellow Americans. It's hard to do anything else when you are a one trick pony.

I am stunned, to say the least, that a "biggie" of the Drive-By-Media printed a negative story about--GASP!--a Democrat. Now if you will only print the truth about that guy at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue and follow up on such questions as:

In HIS books, HE says that HE traveled to Pakistan. Why doesn't the Post ask how HE traveled and under what passport since the US Department of State had issued a "No Travel" edict during that period because of the turmoil in Pakistan. I'm sure you know how to use Google to determine the accuracy of the dates/statement.

You can also ask why HE submitted an affidavit, as part of HIS admission process to the Illinois State Bar, in which HE attests that HE has never been known by any other name but Barack Obama.

Then check out the 2008 issue of TIME-Man of The Year, which carries photos of Obama and HE is identified in those photos, taken while HE was a student at Occidental College, as "Barry Soetero." You might just earn and deserve a Pulitzer Prize. All you have to do is use HIS own words!!
