Hal Rogers's Continuing Resolution to continue government operations
House Appropriations Committee Chairman Hal Rogers (R-Ky.) on Monday unveiled a continuing resolution to continue government operations and cut federal spending. The resolution eliminates earmarked funding and some federal programs for a total savings of about $4 billion. Below are summaries of the cuts provided by Rogers and the full text of the resolution.

Why C-SPAN can never get cameras on the House floor
In November, seizing on Republicans' calls for more transparency in the health-care debate, C-SPAN asked incoming Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) if they could bring cameras onto the House floor. The response has just come back: Sorry, but no. Will C-SPAN ever get the access they crave? Probably not. Fighting over camera angles goes back to 1984, only a few years after television came to the House.

Stick a fork in it; House composting program done
Less than a month into their tenure controlling the House, Republicans have scrapped a small but symbolically important element of the "Green the Capitol" initiative that House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) installed when she was Speaker. Specifically, they're trashing Pelosi's compostable forks and food trays.

Democratic Rep. Cohen 'regrets' Nazi comments were 'taken out of context'
Just one day after standing firm on his remarks comparing Republican rhetoric against the health-care overhaul to "blood libel" and the work of Nazi propagandist Joseph Goebbels, Rep. Steve Cohen (D-Tenn.) now says he regrets "that anyone in the Jewish Community, my Republican colleagues or anyone else was offended by the portrayal of my comments."
