Capitol Hill Security

Just went to the Hill, got a congressional credential, noticed that they're really cracking down on the jaywalkers. Hill cop shouted, "That is completely against the law!" at a man in a suit who looked so deflated and sheepish I feared he would burst into tears. You can feel security tightening by the hour. Soon they will go after people who are humming excessively.

Have a ticket to the inauguration and a seat so close to the action that I think I may be directly next to Jeb. I'm practically family. (Mental note: Use big event to pass out copies of the Post magazine with my fabulous new column.)

I now have four credentials around my neck, including my Post ID, and am tempted to make it five by adding my college diploma. My colleagues are mocking me, but that is because they have intense, feverish credential envy. I bet you there are events during this Inaugural Week that are so restrictive that even Bush can't get in -- but Cheney can.
