Market Roundup: Jan. 8-Jan. 9

A taste of what will be at area farmers markets this weekend:

Saturday's FreshFarm Market in Silver Spring will have meats, cheeses, hydroponic greens and bread.

Sunday's FreshFarm Market in Dupont Circle is open.

Sunday's Smart Markets in Oakton is open. Vendors will offer Brussels sprouts, turnips beets, winter squash and potatoes.

Sunday's Smart Markets in Gainesville is open. Vendors will have muffins, apple tarts and barbecue, including brisket, pulled pork and chicken.

Sunday's Takoma Park Farmers Market will have wild mushrooms; Chesapeake Greenhouse will have hydroponic lettuce, tomatoes and greens; Bees 'n' Blossoms will have honey; Black Rock Orchard will have 10 varieties of apples, plus Asian pears and apple cider.

Saturday's FreshFarm Market in Silver Spring will give the first 20 shoppers five free market dollars.
