Lisa Yockelson's BakingStyleDiary.com
I tweeted this over the weekend, but it bears repeating: Friend of Food Lisa Yockelson has added extra class to the food blogosphere with BakingStyleDiary.com, which launched Saturday.
D.C. cookbook author and FOF Lisa Yockelson. (Ben Fink)Her blog is in advance of her latest cookbook, "Baking Style," to be published this fall. She's dispensing tips, answering reader questions, offering recipes and reviewing cookbooks.
Lisa has provided Post readers with some excellent recipes over the years -- savory as well as sweet -- plus sage advice dispensed during Free Range chats, in our seasonal Sifted feature and just about any ol' time she answers one of my e-mail queries. Her attention to detail is unmatched; when a reader or Post recipe tester has issues, Lisa demands a phone number so she can review, step by step, to solve the problem. I can tell you from experience, it has never been due to an author oversight.
During her painstaking testing, staging and photographing of this upcoming book, Lisa would drop by now and then to share a few still-warm goodies with Food staffers. On the basis of those results alone, I think it's safe to say "Baking Style" has good things to offer.
Just to whet your whistle, here are six of my favorite fairly recent Lisa Yockelson recipes, in no particular order, that are accessible through our Recipe Finder.
Buttery and Soft Chocolate Cake for a Crowd
Lisa's Oat, Nut, Fruit and Seed Bars
Full-Grown Oatmeal Chocolate Chip Cookies
Waffles of Many Flours and Meals
There were lots more to choose from. What are your Yockelson faves?
