Where's Joe?

The Maryland legislative committee that's investigating Gov. Robert L. Ehrlich Jr. for the way his administration handled the termination of dozens of longtime state workers was expecting tomorrow to be a banner day.

They had planned to call Joe Steffen to the witness stand. Steffen, you'll recall, was the Ehrlich political aide who called himself "the prince of darkness," kept a grim reaper figurine on his desk and, according to the testimony thusfar, had compiled lists of people to fire.

After months of staying in touch with Steffen, and a series of interviews, the legislature's chief investigator, Ward Coe, now can't seem to find Steffen. Last week Coe hired a process server to try and track Steffen down and serve him with a subpoena. But as of earlier today, still no luck, Coe said.

Coe said he has only one message for Steffen at this point: "Call me."

Might make for a good episode of America's Most Wanted, or Missing Without a Trace.

Maybe they should check Kendel Ehrlich's email or cell phone records for clues.

This needs to be a headline post all of its own:

Stern dumped from party's slate for state legislature

Ironically posted by you Matt considering the unfolding of that whole story. So did you see that on top of MOM and Jim Smith helping Ryan O get a job with the BDC, that Josh White got a job with O'Malley's campaign?

Any luck pursuing the who is MD4Bush? Said person made some racial comments and other inappropriate comments about Maryland and national Democrats. I've got my bets hedged on it being one of Martin's guys, Ryan O.

MD4BUSH? Who cares? Said person made racial remarks about MD Dems in order to gain credibility with Steffen and other GOPers. And it worked!!! Ehrlich's sleaze master was unmasked and exposed. Now the question possibly can the Bobster win this time if he can't play it dirty???

Baltimore voter-- said person actually made those 'dirty' comments you referred to first, before Steffen that is and said person was put there by O'Malley.

Really though, it is a stupid issue because it was a dem setup from the getgo and everyone realizes it.

The worst part is that those rumors were instigated by O'Malley's primary opponents during his mayorial races. Everyone knows it and Katie said it. They've been around MD political circles for years--shoot I first heard them from democrats, not republicans, well before NCPAC and MD4Bush started posting.
