Democratic Playbook?
If you were wondering what the Democratic lawmakers have in mind the special General Assembly planned for next week, Montgomery delegate and state comptroller candidate Peter Franchot shared a bit of strategy during an appearance yesterday on News Channel 8's NewsTalk.
Host Bruce DePuyt, reminding Franchot of the legislature's failed effort to pass an electricity rate relief plan before adjourning in April, asked him: "If you swing and miss again, won't it just be another example of failed
leadership?"
Franchot responded: "We're going to fire the Public Service Commission and end their public
careers because they've acted as lapdogs, not watchdogs."
"We're going to appoint an Independent Counsel to look at the merger between BG&E and Florida Power & Light.
" We're going to mitigate the rates.
"We're going to get up there and swing for the consumers because we represent the ratepayers and we're not going to fail this time."
