Miller and O'Malley -- A Love Fest

Weddings are all about the love.

And at Senate President Thomas V. Mike Miller's daughter wedding last week, there was a lot of love going around.

There were his 10 lovely grandchildren, adorned in their ivory attire. And there was the "lovely setting" of the ceremony at St. Mary's Church in Annapolis.

The whole thing was capped off with a "lovely reception," where there was a lovely exchange between Miller (D-Calvert) and wedding guest Gov. Martin O'Malley (D).

Miller said "one of the highlights" of the wedding reception was when the governor came to stage. The 15-piece band began playing "When Irish Eyes Are Smiling," and Miller told the governor, "they're playing your song."

Band members asked if the father of the bride, Amanda Leigh, thought O'Malley would join them.

Miller said the governor offered a few bars of the song in his "absolutely beautiful voice."

"Everyone appreciated that he came and that they joined in the festivities," said Miller, noting that the governor's wife, Katie, accompanied him.
