Homeowner alert! What is really coming up in Maryland politics after huge increases in the state sales, income, corporate, hotel, and car taxes? The Post and its endorsed candidates covet your home equity. They are looking at the higher assessments, although most home values have dipped below the new assessments, and licking their insatiably greedy chops. Look for the paper and their ilk to soon say that 911, police, fire, library, senior, and education services will have to be slashed if property taxes are not raised regularly beyond the charter limit.
And look what is happening on the education front. We all know that kids rise to the level of expectations. The State Board of Education is throwing $500-600,000,000 in new money, raised by new taxes, at a educational system that has DECREASED EXPECTATIONS! Instead of having to pass tests on the 3 Rs to graduate, kids can now take R & R projects! New leadership is needed there, not more money. We are paying more for less attainment. Not a peep about this was heard from our tax increasing legislators and editors until after the tax increases were passed.
