Two Unions Endorse Edwards in District 4

Anne Bartlett

Two major labor unions made rare endorsements of a challenger to a Democratic congressman yesterday, promising to make their choice matter through a vigorous effort to help lawyer Donna F. Edwards unseat eight-term Rep. Albert R. Wynn (Md.).

An official with the Service Employees International Union, which has 22,350 Maryland members, said getting Edwards elected is a top national priority for the group, a way to show Democrats that union support is not automatic.

There is no better way to show the Democrats that your support is not automatic than by endorsing another Democrat! If any union supports any other party (GOP, Reform, Green, Blue, Gold etc.) then you've got a story on your hands.

I love the comments of Rick Powell the AFL-CIO legislate director, which amount to an admission that while Big Al may have been bad in the past, (rebuilding bridges to the base), we're supporting him now because he is trying to be good.

Al is damned with faint praise, to say nothing of the integrity of AFL-CIO endorsements.
Go Donna!
