O'Malley to Israel This Week

Gov. Martin O'Malley (D) is planning to head to Israel tonight on a weeklong trade mission that will include meetings with top government leaders and executives from several emerging industries.

His itinerary includes a meeting with Prime Minister Ehud Olmert, for whom O'Malley hosted a lunch during the November Mideast peace conference in Annapolis. Also on the schedule: a meeting with Benyamin Netanyahu, the chairman of the Likud Party.

O'Malley, who will be joined on the trip by a delegation from the Baltimore Jewish Council, is also seeking to foster investment from Israeli companies in Maryland in sectors including the life sciences.
