Gov Has to Exile Barking Dog
Gov. Martin O'Malley (D) and his wife, Catherine Curran O'Malley, had to send their mixed-breed terrier Scout to live with a friend, the Associated Press reports today.
Scout was well-known in Annapolis for barking at passers-by, especially other dogs and horses drawing carriages, AP says it a report that it credits to the Baltimore Examiner.
Catherine O'Malley says Scout was very protective, and became "a big liability." The First Lady says her 11-year-old son William was "devastated" by the move.
The O'Malleys replaced Scout with an English cocker spaniel named Rex. The family also has a teacup poodle named Winston, a golden retriever named Lady and two cats. All were adopted from animal shelters.
