Brown Returning To Md. After Cousin Is Shot

Catherine Brown, a teacher at the Beauvoir School of Washington National Cathedral who was fatally shot in her Montgomery Village home over the weekend, is a cousin of Lt. Gov. Anthony G. Brown (D).

The lieutenant governor, who is in Denver for the Democratic National Convention, released the following statement this morning:

"Shortly after arriving in Denver yesterday afternoon, I learned that my first cousin, Cathy Brown, was killed at her home.... Montgomery County police are investigating the shooting. I will be traveling back to Maryland immediately to be with my family during this difficult time. I leave my fellow delegates with a heavy heart, and I ask that everyone keep my family in their prayers."
