First Pray, Then Vote

Perhaps, as the frenzied presidential campaign comes to a close, a moment of contemplation is in order.
That's what County Council Chairman Samuel H. Dean (D-Mitchellville) and his wife Donna seem to believe.
The two are organizing a prayer vigil to be held on the eve of the vote. In an e-mail to friends and supporters, they write that the event is intended to ask that God's will be done on Election Day.
According to the e-mail, the couple held similar vigils the night before Dean's two elections for County Council.
"We will pray, have congregational singing, share a word ... all as the Lord leads," they write. "Thereafter, we will leave uplifted for the work of the election on Tuesday, November 4th."
All are invited to the event, the e-mail indicates, which will take place on the evening of Nov. 3 at the Faith Missionary Baptist Church at 9161 Hampton Overlook, Capitol Heights, Maryland 20743 from 7 to 8 p.m. The church is not sponsoring the event, they said.
