Porcari's Future Source of State House Buzz
There is growing chatter around the State House that Transportation Secretary John D. Porcari may soon be resigning to take a post in the Obama Administration.
Porcari, who is widely regarded as one of Gov. Martin O'Malley's most talented Cabinet members, declined to confirm or deny the buzz during a brief interview today, as did Rick Abbruzzese, a spokesman for O'Malley (D).
"Last week it was Tom Perez," Porcari said, referring to O'Malley's secretary of Labor, Licensing and Regulation, who is reportedly under consideration for multiple Obama administration posts. "This week, it's me. Next week it may be someone else."
Porcari was lured back to the Department of Transportation by O'Malley after serving in the same job under former governor Parris N. Glendening (D).
