Rep. Edwards to Talk Health Reform Tonight with Young Dems
U.S. Rep. Donna Edwards (D-Md.) will meet with the Prince George's County Young Democrats tonight to talk health care. Specifically, she'll give a talk on how proposed reforms would affect Marylanders and residents of the county, and will take questions from attendees.
Judging by the host group, Edwards will likely meet with fewer tirades from questioners than other members of Congress have faced at recent town hall "discussions" on the issue. Although, with reports that the so-called "public option" is being nudged off the table angering many on the left, who knows?
Details on the event--which is open to the public--provided by the Young Dems:
WHO: The Prince Georges County Young Democrats and Congresswoman Donna Edwards (D-MD)
WHAT: Join Congresswoman Donna Edwards and the Prince Georges County Young Democrats for a conversation on health care and what it means for Marylanders. Rion Dennis with Progressive Maryland will also speak. Lately, few things can rile a town hall meeting like the words "health care reform." As the debate heats up, young Democrats--who have the most to lose if reform fails--are joining the dialogue. Young people aged 18-29 are the nation's largest group of uninsured, nearly 13.2 million in 2007.
WHEN: Thursday, Aug. 20, 7-9 p.m.
WHERE: UFCW Local 400, 4301 Garden City Drive, Landover, MD 20785
