Live in Pr. George's
Maryland Politics will be trying something different at today's Prince George's County Council session: updating you throughout the day on actions at the meeting. So far, things are off to a slow start. The council was scheduled to begin its agenda briefing at 1 p.m., but at that time exactly zero council members had gathered around the conference table, so things appeared to be running late.
Today's agenda consists largely of land and zoning matters, including the proposed sale and transfer of upwards of 80 parcels of "surplus" county land, at the suggestion of County Executive Jack B. Johnson (D). The measure is slated to be introduced today.
Council Chairwoman Marilynn M. Bland (D-Clinton) is also scheduled to introduce a resolution to form a task force to look into the county's taxicab system, after cabdrivers here recently threatened to strike over work conditions.
Stay tuned for more details on both measures.
