O'Malley taunts Indiana governor on Ravens-Colts

o'malley-serious.JPGMaryland Gov. Martin O'Malley (D) is riding the Ravens' playoff romp for all it's worth. First he complained that Massachusetts Gov. Deval Patrick (D), didn't pay up when he bet New England lobsters on a Patriots victory in the wild-card weekend. On Wednesday, he boldly taunted Indiana Gov. Mitch Daniels, whom he said was avoiding a wager on Saturday's matchup between the Ravens and the AFC's No. 1 seed Indianapolis Colts.

For full effect, here's O'Malley's unedited comments to reporters outside the State House moments ago:

"I've tried calling Gov. Mitch Daniels (R), but I think he's a scared. He will not answer the phone. He will not take the bet. Gov. Mitch Daniels is scared of making a bet with the Colts and the Ravens. Not only did they slink out of town in the middle of the night, but now their governor is afraid to take a bet on who is going to win this game. If Gov. Mitch Daniels is listening, governor, pick up the phone. It's not a big deal. Your team slinked out of here in the middle of the night. The Ravens are coming to Indianapolis. Let's pick up the phone. Let's have a gentlemanly bet. Don't be afraid, just pick up the phone, Mitch, c'mon. We'll put up crab cakes or we'll put up Smith Island cake, and you can put up whatever it is that Indiana does."

O'Malley, by the way, also noted he's still waiting for his lobsters.

This guy is governor of a state? I mean, even for Maryland, this guy is astoundingly crude and low class.

It is obvious why the governor of Indiana is not taking this clown's calls.

Wow. Real classy MOM. Makes me embarrassed to live in Maryland.

I think the Ravens are going to win. Indy made a big mistake by playing half-way the last two games and not going for the wins. If Gov. Daniels bets one of those Indy race cars, O'Malley is going to get a speed camera ticket in it.

Puh-lease. If you want to see "classy" try looking in a fanblog of any NFL team.

OMalley's playful ribbing of a colleague and harmless bets of crab cakes doesn't even come close.
