O'Malley travels to Richmond for McDonnell oath

O'Malley closeup.jpgAs noted by our Virginia colleagues, Maryland Gov. Martin O'Malley (D) was among the dignitaries on hand in Richmond Saturday for the inauguration of new Virginia Gov. Bob McDonnell (R).

O'Malley and outgoing Virginia Gov. Timothy M. Kaine (D) worked together frequently, and O'Malley helped raise money for McDonnell's Democratic opponent, Creigh Deeds.

But O'Malley communications director Rick Abbruzzese tells us: "Governor O'Malley felt that it was important to attend in the spirit of both bipartisanship and partnership. When it comes to cross-border partnerships on public safety and the Bay, it's important that Maryland and Virginia continue to work together."
