Ehrlich seeks Facebook fans in advance of rematch

Thumbnail image for Ehrlich.jpgHere's the latest sign that former Maryland governor Robert L. Ehrlich Jr. (R) is gearing up to run again: He's asking past supporters to become fans of his Facebook page.

"It's the best way to hear directly from Governor Ehrlich about what it will take to make Maryland strong and prosperous again," says an email sent overnight Wednesday to Ehrlich supporters. "Bob has been busy meeting with folks like you across Maryland, but Facebook is an easy way to get his take on current events and to learn about his upcoming appearances."

The text of the email from "Team Ehrlich" appears under a Bob Ehrlich for Maryland logo.

Ehrlich has remained coy about his plans to seek a rematch against Gov. Martin O'Malley (D), who defeated him in 2006. But loyalists say they are convinced Ehrlich will run, with some suggesting an announcement date of March 25, Maryland Day.

Ehrlich has maintained a Facebook page for some time, but there has been a considerable uptick in his activity lately. Recent posts include less-than-flattering media stories about O'Malley and other Maryland Democrats, as well as updates on Ehrlich's appearances.

Ehrlich is offering his 8,000th Facebook fan an opportunity to "get their picture taken with the governor."

The complete text of his email is below:

Dear Friend,

Thank you for being a strong supporter of Governor Bob Ehrlich over the years.

We have a simple request: Will you join the "Bob Ehrlich" page on Facebook?

It's the best way to hear directly from Governor Ehrlich about what it will take to make Maryland strong and prosperous again. Bob has been busy meeting with folks like you across Maryland, but Facebook is an easy way to get his take on current events and to learn about his upcoming appearances.

Thanks again for your leadership and support. Governor Ehrlich looks forward to connecting with you on Facebook soon.

Very truly yours,

Team Ehrlich

P.S. The 8,000th member of Bob Ehrlich's Facebook page will get their picture taken with the governor!

There are more groups on Facebook for Governor Ehrlich then are against him, as opposed to those who are against OWE Malley. OWE Malley has become a truly hated Governor in Maryland and I hope Maryland wakes up and understands that Governor Ehrlich is the only Governor in the last 20 years to leave the state with Revenues in the Black, not in the Red like the Socialist Governor OWE Malley of the Emerald Brigade. One can only hope that OWE Malley will have plenty of time running around with his band during and extended vacation from Politics. Oh, thats right, he said he would not play in his band in public if elected Governor last time, just one in a many of lies thrown down on Marylanders. Run Bob Run, restore the Fiscal Responsibility in Annapolis. I guess you have to get rid of the Mike Miller and Busch first.

trouble is, the inbred western maryland voters can't read or write.

@sofaking, more like Libitards in Maryland can't read or write, the only thing they are capable of is pulling a lever with a D on it. You see, they don't know how to use the internet to research before they vote, they are the problem in Maryland, at least the Repubs know how to speak and spell without the use of a translator.

Isn't Erlich the reason that O'Malley has the budget problems now? Didn't Erlich mess up Maryland and then leave it on O'Malleys watch to clean up? No wonder I am an independent voter. Neither party is worth voting for.

Ehrlich is a proven loser. The economic problems facing maryland today were caused by ehrlich and bush. we don't need to go backwards in time and start another recession all over again.

Posted by: MarilynManson | February 18, 2010 9:07 AM | Report abuse

Umm, no, OWE Malley is the reason why, he has increased spending in the budget by almost 30 percent. I think you guys need to learn how to do research before you start posting. Obviously you hail from the Emerald Bunker of Excuses and by the way, who raised the Highest Tax Increase in Maryland History, Lied to the Public about Slots, Constellation Energy, Raised the Corporate Tax Rate, causing more unemployment? Costing Marylanders 1.4 billion a year in tax dollars with his love affair for Illegal Invaders, via social services, section 8 housing, emergency care, and so on. And by the way, go back to when O Malley drained the Rainy day fund so he wouldnt have to submit a budget other then the structural deficit offsets, which by the way is Mandated at 67 percent thanks to the Democratic Leadership. I think you have allot of Learning to do about politics and economics. You are the type of individuals that have assisted in putting Maryland in this position, so Thank you.

The only PROVEN Loser is OWE Malley who is nothing more then a carpetbagger and liar. I can state the facts, state the facts about Ehrlich which makes him a loser? Have proof, share it. Don't hide.

Let us not forget the 600 million in Red that Parris Glendenning left Ehrlich when he came into office. Come on guys, get with the program and learn and listen, do the research, its there for you to see, just like O Malleys farce of a 3000.00 business credit for hiring someone, didn't anyone tell the Governor, if the business is receiving no new work, they aren't going to hire about their own revenues when jobs are not their for their business's. It's smoke and mirrors and lies, and you all have become infatuated with this man's pull the wool over your eyes routine, just like Ike Leggett and Jack Johnson.

I didnt think the Dems on here would be able to respond to the facts. Good try though.

I am a Democrat and an Erlich supporter. He earned my support during his first administration and I look forward to his second administration. We could use Erlich to offset Miller's political consolidation in the Senate.

It is unfortunate that many people who support Democratic social values cannot find common sense fiscal leadership in our own party. The days of Goldstein and Willie Donnie running a tight fiscal ship, protecting our AAA credit rating, and using surpluses to fund the rainy day account and building much needed transportation infrastructure are long gone. The Miller/O'Malley crowd is in a total spend till we drop and destroy your enemies at any cost mode. We need Erlich back to restore balance.

I applaud your honesty MDLAW. Thank you for also sharing some facts. Again, they can not refute the facts. When the debates begin, O Liar will bring up the past, while Ehrlich will bring up the current situation making O Malley look like a fool. He cant blame Senior' Busch this time. Facts are facts and if voters would do their do diligence and research the facts, Maryland could get back on track. Something the Dems forgot to Mention, the money being spent on Transportation, was raised by the Ehrlich Administration by raising the Motor Vehicle Fees, which at the time were one of the lowest in the Country, what he did was bring us up to date, and it generated the revenue source to grow our roadways, Not O Malley and Obamas lie of a Recovery act. I urge all Democrats on her to go look at the Stimulus funds Maryland received and see where the Mighty O Malley put it, you will be surprised and awakened.

At this point, I am so sick and tired of Progressive/Liberals I changed my vote to Independent last year. O'Malley needs to go, Leggett, all of the Legislators and Councilmembers and thank GOD Johnson cannot run again. Have any of you people seen the voting record of our Legislator's in office? They have sold the State of Maryland down the river. Blacks don't read, all they see is color and vote Democrat, although Democrats have done nothing for them in 40 years! The reason President Obama won was because of Regan Democrats, Independents, and Moderate Republicans. They now have buyers remorse.

Listen, don't believe anything I say, check out the voting records of Donna Edwards, Barbara Mikulski, Ben Cardin, Steny Hoyer, Elijah Cummings, check them out. They all believe in open borders. Illegal immigration in Maryland has cost taxpayers 1.2 billion dollars of our 2 billion dollar short fall. My property taxes have gone up for the last three years to fund illegal immigration! We are spending our money on illegal gang members to remove tatoo's, no 287g to arrest them, no E-verify to protect the little jobs we have. Our children can't even get jobs in McDonalds, Burger King etc.

Check out your own neighborhood, who is waiting on you? Got movie money Mom & Dad? Our children are being taught in Spanish, why? This is AMERICA!

The Board of Education in Maryland needs to change as well, our children are no longer being taught real history, check out their school books folks. When they no longer mention MLK, and Honest Abe or the Constitution, will blacks rise up then. One party rule in any State leads to what we have now, a MESS.

Ehrlich raised property taxes 57% during his first year as governor. I thought Republicans were against that kind of thing.

O'Malley is far from perferct, but come on, you'd trade him for a Bush reject? Maryland, please don't take the same route Virginia did. Unless, that is, you want a stone-age education system.

Bob "Governor Abrasive" Ehrlich, the 'Tom Delay' hatchet style governor? Second Term?? No way, Bob! Ehrlich actually went to the State House and lectured our representatives on being nice--and then proceeded to break every rule of civility along the way. First, we had to amend the Maryland Constitution to prevent him from selling off state lands for pennies on the dollar to his political crony. Then he used nefarious political hacks to fire 'unfire-able' state workers--who sued and got their jobs back plus a lot of taxpayer money.

During his first campaign, Ehrlich and Michael Steele personally met with Johns Hopkins administrators and promised to be an education team if elected. Were they? Heck no, they cut Sellinger funding to private colleges and forced tuition increases at state schools for the first 3 years of their administration. Then to great hoopla, they then threw money back in the pre-election year--but not enough to even equal the level before they cut it.

And no Prince Georges' resident will forget that he and Michal Steele hired homeless men from Philadelphia, bused them into Maryland, and sent them to PG County to hand out lying election flyers--one saying that Ehrlich and Steele were Democrats!l the other listing prominent Democrats as endorsers when they weren't. Ehrlich's wife Kendal and Michael "king of sleaze" Steele actually met the men and gave them their blessing. I'll actually go out and personally campaign against that blot on the state.

Speculation isn't necessary. Bob Ehrlich will run again against O'Malley. Bank on it.

I would gladly take Ehrlich over O Malleys back door dealings and corruption with his cohorts Mike Miller and Mike Busch. What Ehrlich did was bring the state up to date from prehistoric times, and I can give you some stories, just ask Joe Steffen what he did on his own, not at the Governors orders. Let us not forget that our State Rating was the highest ever under Ehrlich, and dont sit here and lecture me about his politics when you have not one clue what O Malley has done. O Malley has raped and pillaged this state of its last dime. Lied to the voters, Ehrlich did not run on a Campaign of Lies, and remember, when you are dealing with likes of those Democraps in the State House, you have to play dirty, but he nowhere near hurt Marylanders the way O Malley has. Business's don't want to be here, we purchase our products over the internet and across state lines, people have moved out of the state at Historic rates thanks to the current administration. When Ehrlich raised, the Dems went with it, whats that tell you? When O'Malley plays monopoly with the Land, whats that tell you? Against the Death Penalty but for Abortion. Maryland is the 3rd highest taxed stated in the country, under Ehrlich we were out of the top 10, when Ehrlich left, we were out of the top 10. In State Tuition freezes burdened the Community Colleges which had to raise tuition costs. Who cares about property taxes, I am talking about the whole picture, you picking pieces, the Larger Solution whether you like it or not is to get rid of O Malley and all the Democrats who sit in their seats and tell people to shut up who testify, so when you come with your Rhetoric, come with more than you have because I can go on and on and on.

I think Maryland will vote a Republican into office, possibly in the year 3027 when Kathleen Kennedy Townsend is unfrozen and her rocket ship returns from her home planet to run again. Maryland's own Martha Coaxley!
