Rushern Baker announces Pr. Geo.'s candidate filing -- then postpones
Rushern L. Baker III's campaign announced this morning that he had filed as a candidate for county executive, but then sent out a second e-mail notice saying the filing had been postponed.
"Rushern Baker today officially became a candidate for Prince George's County Executive filing with the County's election office today," the first e-mail stated. "Today's filing represents another step in Baker's effort to lead Prince George's County to a position of greater regional prominence. Baker adds 'What we do together matters, this filing means we can't walk away from hard working families, we have to walk together.' "
A second notice said simply: "The Rushern Baker filing for Prince George's County Executive is postponed. A future date will be announced."
Campaign spokesman James Adams said in an interview Baker was out of town on a long-scheduled trip for a personal family obligation, and had to postpone the filing after his return flight was canceled. Adams said the campaign still plans to file sometime this week.
