Ehrlich continues push to build female support

John Wagner

EhrlichMoms.jpgFor the second day in a row, former governor Robert L. Ehrlich Jr. (R) sought to bolster his support among women, a group of voters that has sided with Gov. Martin O'Malley (D) by a large margin in recent polls.

Ehrlich on Friday visited the White Marsh home of Tammy Larkin, the state director of Moms for Maryland, a group she launched a few months back.

"I didn't want to be that mom that was just out at the bus stop complaining," Larkin told Ehrlich and a dozen women gathered in her family room. "The most political thing I've done before is PTA, and I vote."

In a Washington Post poll of likely voters last month, Ehrlich trailed O'Malley among women, 56 percent to 38 percent. Among men, O'Malley's lead was much narrower, 49 percent to 45 percent.

"Obviously, women and moms are a big part of this campaign," Ehrlich said, as he petted the Larkin family dog.

Larkin distributed a handout with a list of 10 ways women could become more involved in the Ehrlich campaign, including wearing an Ehrlich t-shirt to "practices, at the gym and when you are running errands to get the word out about Bob Ehrlich."

On Thursday, Ehrlich held court with more than 100 women in Montgomery County, at a luncheon on the sun-splashed patio of the Old Angler's Inn in Potomac.

No way in hell, this female.

I was one of the hundreds of females that was laid off by Governor Ehrlich because I was a Democrat. NO OTHER REASON. I was a single Mom, supporting a disabled child and had received, the very same week, a superb evaluation. I did not make policy, I did nothing political but it didn't matter. They tried to get me to quit in order to save on unemployment and even threatened me with a bad review in my file.

Bob Ehrlich is no friend of women as he will do the same thing again to the thousands of state employees who are political appointees.

If you want chaos in Maryland government, bring back the amateurs!

If you believe Ehrlich is for women, I have a bridge I'd like to sell you. O'Malley is the better choice for all of us, including women.

I don't think Mr. Ehrlich's sales pitch to women is working though...

"Women, are you tired of working? --Then vote for me. I'll make sure you stay home to cook, clean, and serve your man, just as God intended."

Get lost, Ehrlich. Maryland was down int he dumps during your tenure, you tried to push through slot machines, oh, and you finally approved that rape of wilderness known as the Intercounty Connector. Funny how as soon as Republican got elected, that "dream came true." We don't need you again...

"Ehrlich continues push to build female support" Hilarious! BOB, look in the mirror! You are no Marty O'Malley, every women's fantasy lover or best gay girlfriend, it is Saturday so take your pick!

Every time they publish a photo of Marty you lose another couple points, if he manages to get a wet and shirtless shot you are toast!

Marty is like the cover boy on the romance novel, the UPS man, the personal trainer, you, Bob, are the loaf swirling around a porcelain bowl before disappearing forever.

Marty is like the secret agent, secret service dude, you Bob are the old guy in the bad toupee and loose dentures hanging too long at Dunkin' Donuts!

Marty and Colm are like Batman and Robin, you and Kendell more like Hee and Haw!

Go find Kendell and peel her off the bar stool, she has probably attracted some hangers on who might vote for you!

Female support for Ehrlich does not exist! HILARIOUS! You should sue the Post for reminding voters about your female support.

Marty, Colm, you're our girls,
love to wear,
your string of pearls!

As a registered independent female, single mother - I voted for Ehrlick the first time around. I remember what happened to Marylanders during his watch - the significant increased in BGE cost imposed on Maryland homeowners while we were also coping with high gasoline cost for automobiles. I regret casting that vote - suffered significant financial setbacks under Ehrlick - I won't make that mistake again.

You have to be kidding about the High Cost of BGE going up!!!! OMalley campaigned on doing something about the rates going up and how he was going to stop it. What happened. The highest rate increase happened while he was Governer. A Whopping 72 percent increase!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! So please get a better memory.

This is a joke, right? Erhlich is not for women - grasping at straws because he still wants women in the home cooking, cleaning and being happy to see him home at night. I'm offended that he thinks we "little women" would vote for him.

I'm probably not the only woman who remembers that, after his previous victory in a governors' election, he celebrated by going off to a boxing night with a bunch of male supporters and told reporters, with a smirk, "No chicks." I suppose if he'd said "No jungle bunnies," he'd be looking for black support now.
