Pr. Geo.'s Man Pens Obama Ode

During the day, Jeff Logan works as an administrator at the Prince George's County jail.

But in his off-hours, his passion is music. And lately he's turned to his music in an effort to elect Sen. Barack Obama president. Just one of thousands of such efforts you can find on the Internet on the Illinois-senator's behalf, Logan said he wrote his song in a couple of hours.

He plays all four instruments for the song, creatively titled "Obama." He sings on the track, along with friend and fellow Bowie resident Allison Prince.

You can listen to the song here.

"Hey everybody gather round, there's new leader in town, it is time America rebounds" the song beings. "From the prairie to the plains, aren't you tired of the same. Get up, get out, vote for the name...Obamaaaaa. Obamaaaaa."

Logan said he was looking for a catchy way to express his belief that the country needs change. He welcomes people to borrow the song and play it at political events, polling places, anywhere to drum up turnout.

"I didn't write it for monetary gain," he said. "I wrote it for political advocacy...He resonates with so many people. He's brought so many people into the process."

Obama Lauds Prince George's Teachers Pay Plan

Maria Glod, the Post's sharp-eyed education reporter, noted that Democratic candidate Barack Obama brought up Prince George's County in his speech in Dayton yesterday. Obama praised the county for a pay-for-performance pilot program that rewards teachers for improving student performance.

According to the transcript, Obama said:

"And when our teachers succeed in making a real difference in our children's lives, we should reward them for it by finding new ways to increase teachers' pay across the board -- (applause) -- and to find ways to increase teachers' pay that are developed with teachers, not imposed on them. We can do this. From Prince George's County in Maryland to Denver, Colorado, we're seeing teachers and school boards coming together to design performance pay plans."

Both Obama and his Republican opponent, Sen. John McCain, will be campaigning in Virginia today. Obama will appear at a Norfolk high school and McCain with his running mate, Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, at a Fairfax park.
