The cartoon says exactly what I was thinking. The ''founding fathers'' came from the worst that England had to offer. Pickpockets, ladies of the night, people let out of debtors' prisons and the mentally ill populated this country and these ''patriots'' brazenly stole this land from the Native Americans. Now they're terrified that they are losing the land they stole.

I see this cartoon and i COMPLETELY underatnd what u are saying anne...BUT the word is if suspected if they are ILLEGAL which means it's wrong and noone else is an exceptio0n to the rules of the law (or shouldn't be) I MEAN IF YOUR DOING SOMETHING ILLEGAL THEN U SHOULD BE PREPARED FOR THE CONSEQUENCES WHEN U R CAUGHT I UNDERSTAND THAT IT'S BAD IN ME-HICO but the point is alot of them are ILLEGAL so they have to deal with it they are BREAKING THE LAW and like anyone else who breaks the law they should be repremanded and punished to the full extent of the law PERIOD POINT BLANK! HOW IS THAT RACIST???

This cartoon is DEAD on. For those that don't like it, go back to your original ancestors country. But then again they don't want you. Don't claim you and most don't like you. Most of you are the ancestors of pea brain slave owners that came to this country to polute it. Now you claim entitlement about this being your country. The earth belongs to everybody. We share and grow from different cultures. Like it or not immigration is world wide. Immigrants to the US are going now where. If you don't like it YOU LEAVE and take your racist, two left feet with you

We gave the Indians payment in lead and blood for this land. It's how nations grow. We won. Get over it.

Now this would be funny if it did come across as ignorant. Can we say Trail of Tears, the forced march of American Indians to the reservations to places like the Dakotas and Oklahoma? What about the 130+ treaties made with the American Indians by the U.S. Government, which kept not one of them to the American Indians. The government kept one promise to them: the government would take the American Indians' land; the government kept that one promise.

I stayed on the Rosebud Sioux Indian Reservation in Mission, SD some years ago. Met Governor William Janklow (sp?) in Pierre, the state capital. A racist sob if I ever met one. So you can keep that horse scat about blood and lead; white folks stole the country (nothing new there, ask the Chinese coolies, African slaves, and others who did not look like white folks).

Dear President Obama:

I'm planning to move my family and extended family into Mexico for my health, and I would like to ask you to assist me.

We're planning to simply walk across the border from the U.S. Into Mexico, and we'll need your help to make a few arrangements.

We plan to skip all the legal stuff like passports, immigration quotas and laws.

I'm sure they handle those things the same way you do here. So, would you mind telling your buddy, President Calderon, that I'm on my way over?

Please let him know that I will be expecting the following:

1. Free medical care for my entire family.

2. English-speaking government bureaucrats for all services I might need, whether I use them or not.

3. Please print all Mexican government forms in English.

4. I want my grandkids to be taught Spanish by English-speaking(bi-lingual) teachers.

5. Tell their schools they need to include classes on American culture and history.

6. I want my grandkids to see the American flag on one of the flag poles at their school.

7. Please plan to feed my grandkids at school for both breakfast and lunch.

8. I will need a local Mexican driver's license so I can get easy access to government services.

9. I do plan to get a car and drive in Mexico , but, I don't plan to purchase car insurance, and I probably won't make any special effort to learn local traffic laws.

10. In case one of the Mexican police officers does not get the memo from
the president to leave me alone, please be sure that every patrol car has
at least one English-speaking officer.

11. I plan to fly the U.S. Flag from my house top, put U S. Flag decals on
my car, and have a gigantic celebration on July 4th. I do not want any
complaints or negative comments from the locals.

12. I would also like to have a nice job without paying any taxes, or have
any labor or tax laws enforced on any business I may start.

13. Please have the president tell all the Mexican people to be extremely nice and never say critical things about me or my family, or about the strain we might place on their economy.

14. I want to receive free food stamps.

15. Naturally, I'll expect free rent subsidies.

16. I'll need Income tax credits so although I don't pay Mexican Taxes, I'll receive money from the government.

17. Please arrange it so that the Mexican Gov't pays $4,500 to help me buy
a new car.

18. Oh yes, I almost forgot, please enroll me free into the Mexican Social Security program so that I'll get a monthly income in retirement. I know this is an easy request because you already do all these things for all his people who walk over to the U..S. From Mexico . I am sure that President Calderon won't mind returning the favor if you ask him nicely.

Thank you so much for your kind help. *You're the man!!!*

Heck, the Native Americans managed to cross the Bering Straits in search of game and that means we should all hand it back to them? Sorry, that only means they got here earlier than the rest and in 1492 still hadn't figured out the wheel, metal-working or any manner of more advanced things. Read Jared Diamonds Guns, Germs and Steel.

But while the Democrats worry about the prospects of the Democrats and the Republicans about the well-being of the Republicans, who worries about America?

No one. Which the American people have noticed, and which adds to the dangerous alienation—actually it's at the heart of the alienation—of the age.

I am a native American. We are the people descended from the natives of northeastern USA who had been under the imperial rule of Britain. We had a nationialistic revolt and created our nation named afer ourselves-Americans- called the United States of America. The nation grew to its present size as a consequence of the purchase of lands possessed by Spain, France, GB, Russia and

Up yours Ann Telnaes, and this fascist government we had this last 35 years, and your entire class of american hating immigrant pigs!
And even Sweden discriminates against non Nordic immigrants.
And we all know the Swedes took their country by stealing it and colonising it from the real owners and slaughtering them in a protracted genocide! How dare the illegal immigrants of Sweden deny any others the right to enter and live there?

Immigration is Monetary Policy. Its purpose is to keep a high level of unemployment even in boom times, so we always have many unemployed people no matter what. It minimises pressure to increase wages. It makes life better for Bankers. There is a name for this policy that was put in place in 1976/77 to Whip Inflation Now!. The birthday of the homeless. Its called NAIRU. see, inflation happens when too many people are employed, it gets harder to hire for the dirty work, and higher wages have to be offered. But if there's always too many people for the work, if there is always desperate homeless workers begging for work, you don't have to raise wages to attract workers. You can even reduce wages, and still get workers.
NAIRU From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia In monetarist economics, particularly the work of Milton Friedman, NAIRU is an acronym for Non-Accelerating Inflation Rate of Unemployment.

High Unemployment = low inflation or even deflation

What a moronic cartoon.

You want to know the truth behind this cartoon? Militant Hispanic illegal-alien-promoting grant-sucking "organizers" like LaRaza, Mexica, Aztlan, and MeCha...actually believe that they have a right to our country.

Mexicans have been encouraged by these anti-American, liberty-hating radical crazies for decades.

A silly and childish cartoon. The real lesson to learn from the American Indians is that if you do not secure and defend your borders you lose your lands.

Why doesn't anybody pay attention to the fact that the majority of "illegal" immigrants in this country are not from Mexico? They are from all over the world, came to this country legally and let their visas expire. Shouldn't INS get on their tails to renew or go home?

Ann, Maybe a Lightening Bolt or Swastika would be appropriate on the sleeve of that officer.

I find this animation humorous since my original ancestor moved here from France and fought Indians with George Rogers Clark to help secure and create the state of Indiana and Illinois. He then turned around and married one. Marry a Mexican and make them American.

Over 150 years later I have recently discovered that my Mother and Father, including their children, became intensely harassed and under surveillance by local NSA operatives in the area of which we lived most of our lives and were very good community minded and law abiding individuals. The fact that this intrusion in our lives began over 15 years ago and involved federal technologies, that resulted in the loss of my Mother's life and also my job, at that time and presently, of which was also under the direction of someone locally and were directed at myself on the insistence of local law enforcement has left me completely at a loss to exactly why except for their completely honest attitudes against government corruption and racists who committed federal crimes like arson, that they became aware of and those responsible were never brought to justice for it.

Obviously our government has been negligent about allowing people across our southern borders along with whatever they could have brought along with them. Instead of targeting individuals like my family. They could of easily used those same technologies and the time spent using them to prevent anyone or anything from entering into this country unnoticed. I guess the lesson learned here in middle Indiana should be never hand over NSA technologies to the local Klan members along with corrupt political organizations. The sad truth is they are still operating them and have created chaotic situations for many in their lives. I never thought that the KKK would become bigger and stronger in the 21st century.

It didn't seem to matter to those small independent contractors or farmers at the time when the cheap labor it supplied and helped create bigger profits. As long as they did not stick around and live close to them.

Who should really be held accountable for allowing this to take place and becoming uncontrollable?

dear 5 star a few errors in your rant - 1 the people who sneak in are criminals - 2 most do not pay taxes but use services -- ny ancestors had open borders and suffered for doing so i will not make same mistake

Amusing, very "politically correct" and soooo unimaginative.

Where do you get such an aboriginal idea? In theory, the "illegal" should also be stopped by the Indian - right?

Last question: Are the "right thinkers" like Ann saying borders should be open to all or to noone?

the cartoon suggests that who ever is/was first wins.

I always enjoy your work, even though I often disagree with your position.

The Northern European peoples that populated this continent between 1600 and 1900 conquered the so called Native Americans who were here. A completely different concept from allowing ones nation to be overrun, when the means to prevent it exist.

I simply advocate that we not participate in our own destruction. The Arizona law may be imperfect, but when the Federal Government will not act, the states - according to the constitution - have the right to.

The Arizona state government should just put on their uniform; the white outfit with the white hood, instead of Camouflaging it a suite & a tie! All these people against immigrants. First, WE are UNDOCUMENTED, not illegals. Second, WE pay taxes and never see any of it! Also who do you white-hooded folk think builds all your monuments and roads? ALL are immigrants, whether from Latin American or the European or Middle East, Asian countries...its all the same. Don't hate our tanned skin. "All men are created equally...WTF is that about" hypocrites. I love this country, the US of A but I wish we could rid of some white-hooded folks. Peace & Love to all my immigrant people AND MINORITIES, KEEP FIGHTING, HASTA LA VICTORIA, SIEMPRE!!!

One might also consider how we stole all of AZ (along with parts and all of other states) from Mexico when we forced them to sign the treaty of Guadalupe.

Racism is a live and well in America as the Arizona government shows. A person who is an American Citizen but has a Spanish surname could be arrested and forced to prove his or her citizenship. This could be very expensive and time consuming. Is this not a form of guilty until you prove your innocence, not to mention racial profiling! Will everyone going to Arizon have to carry a birth certificate, naturalization papers.

If the ones who employ illegals were punished it would help the problem.

Telnaes conveniently forgets (as do so many urbanized Scandinavians) that standing behind that big Indian is a Sa'ami.

His people got to America and founded the Clovis Culture upwards of 17,000 years ago.

Scandinavians have a big problem respecting Sa'ami rights in Europe and refuse to give them back their land.

There is a 900lb gorilla that is the holes in the logic of those who favor completely open borders (make no mistake if you favor amnesty or run the tired story of "we are all immigrants" up the pole), you do. You always leave out that most immigrants did and some still do come through the front door and follow the rules and asimilate. They haven't lost their culture or customs.

Then again, truth and logic are rarely the goal in discussions like these, are they?

AT, the thing that ticks me off is that those who scream the loudest about "illegal immigration" forget their forefathers came from the "old country" (usually from Ireland, Italy, Poland and Germany) to seek better opportunities in America. Not all who came to Ellis Island were legal; many were stowaways and quite illegal. The folks who come from Central America are only looking for the same opportunities; hence real immigration reform is needed and not this mess that is nothing more than racial profiling.

Posted by: meldupree | April 30, 2010 5:35 AM | Report abuse

So why do we even bother enforcing any immigration law or continue to check identification documents at any border entry point or aerial entry port across the country? Just think of all the money the government could save if we just opened all the borders and let the immigrants enter the country any way they can by land, sea or air. Why do we even have border checkpoints and ask for identification documents from people along the US-Canadian Border? Why do we even care if boat loads of immigrants wash up on the coast of Florida? What would be wrong with having plane loads of immigrants from Eastern Europe just landing on private airstrips in Nebraska?
