Usually, God is a little more subtle than a thunderbolt but makes his point just the same.
People are allowed to do their dirty deeds and pay for them later.
When people abuse their freedom there is always a price to pay.
"Shock and Awe" as a preemptive attack based on lies, then torturing people to extort false statements was a crime against humanity and we are paying the price. Many good Christian people sold their souls for a false sense of security.
We killed innocent people instead of those responsible for 9-11.
Instead of repenting our transgressions, we are stealing from the poor and giving to the rich which is undermining our economy and creating a new third world nation. People need good paying jobs to survive.
A thunderbolt might be more merciful than poverty.
We need to repent; restructure our economy so that we have the necessary finances to rebuild both our character and what we have destroyed. Otherwise, we will never again be a great nation in the sight of God.

I do not believe there should be protesting allowed at anyones funeral. Especially a soldiers funeral. Righteous issue are not. I am sure those who believe in Thor and his hammer would never interfere with people attending a funeral. I was interfered with in another way at both of my parent's funerals. I did not care for it. My parents were decent and honest people who deserved better than what they got. My other comments concerns mostly what is really happening today in America seems to be very sad.

Hey (speaking as a "straight" vet) . . Right On!

Beautiful illustration of my "God" Thor smacking those amoral idiots with a Thunderbolt.

What REALLY gives me a Pain is the number of commenters who ACTUALLY believe that THEY know what God does and doesn't want, AND actually believe that they can speak for God!

That is ultimate arrogance and ignorance.

P.S. JONAHandtheFISH . . . please ask Scotty to "beam you up".

Ann Telnaes~~~Excuse my serious attitude. But you deal with topics. I deal with issues. America has some very serious issues that have directly affected myself and those who I have loved the most who are no longer living. I am a Christian who has always made an attempt to care about everyone just like those who I have lost. Christians should wish for everyone to have a good and prosperous live without any corruptible interferences from any outside source, especially our own government. What I have discovered is that America has secretly lost those values. I dearly love this country and those who respectfully live here. I fear the majority of those who actively take interest in the political arena today have lost their minds! At times you seem to only encourage that type of insanity.

As a Christian I have never prayed for someones death, but only for God to deliver us from evil!

The Right of Free Speech has been greatly reduced in this country because it seems that it can only be bought and paid for if you expect to have any type of audience. It does not matter how serious or devastating the issue.

If only that would happen. Those people are odious.

JONAHandtheFISH- think "tongue in cheek". If you have followed my previous work, you would know I support Free Speech (see related animation), regardless how offensive the speech may be.
Also, you're correct that the health and financial stability of our veterans is an important topic:

Ann, what are you trying to say here? Are you that person standing there with the sign that says, 'YOU ARE GOING TO HELL'? Is that a lightening bolt from God or artificially created? Who and how are these people being influenced to assemble over such causes? If these people were under some type of direct hypnosis to speak out in such a way, I guess there 1st Amendment rights have been violated also.

God does not act according to amendments either. He told us through his written word how it was going to be and how it would end. No power on Earth, except his, would affect the outcome.

Other than the story of Sodom & Gomorrah, the scriptures pretty much ignore the oddball activities of homosexuality and it falls mostly under the category of whoredom. You know good Christians and those of the Islamic faith have common ground when it comes to rejection of homosexuality. Homosexuals were tragically put to death after the Ayatollah took control of Iran. All good Muslims and Christians do not want war either. On the issue of 'Don't ask Don't tell'. Why don't they allow our military servicemen and women to vote upon this issue. Is that not the Democratic way?

It also seems to me that the health and financial stability of our VETERANS should be of much greater concern. It was discovered and released in 2008 that 18 veterans commit suicide in this country daily. Their homeless rating is also very high. How sad for those who served this country proudly.

Ann, since you are portraying an act of God in your animated illustration. Here is something that comes directly from his book.

Psalms 9:7,8,9 ~~~ The Lord reigns forever:
He has established his throne for judgement.

He will judge the world in righteousness:
He will govern the people with justice.

The Lord is a refuge for the oppressed:
A stronghold in times of trouble.

His second amendment rights?

Papist? Tsk. Tsk. Tsk.
The placards are blaphemy - Speaking on behalf of God; definitely a "problem" in my book.
But you turned your cartoon into an anti-Catholic placard, to voice your bigotry, as well.

Ann, I am usually at the opposite end of all of your cartoons and thinking but this one is right on the mark. These are the sickest bunch I have ever seen. They don't deserve to be alive while our fine soldiers are dying to preserve their right to be so horrible.

Religious hatred, bigotry, and wars rage when one person or group of persons decide that they are the sole interpreter of God's intentions, words deeds and actions. How many more need to die and suffer for this hubris!
