I am a 71 year old gay man. I served in the US Army for 3 years, including the time of the Cuban missile crisis in 1962 when I was stationed in Korea. I was the outstanding trainee of my basic training company, held a top secret security clearance, and received proficiency pay for my skills when I returned to the US to finish my enlistment. I have as much knowledge about the military as John McCain.

John McCain and his supporters are dead wrong about the repeal of DADT. It should never have been enacted and now that it is gone, the military will continue to be the very best in the world.

McMisled has been misguided sinced he was born. The man has no integrity at all.He deported all his principles, and ignoring or distorting his own championed legislations in the past.He runs out of every single reasons a person could have imagined in this world. He changed stances so often the way Scott Brown changed his underwears.Time to rest at Sedona, and don't forget your hairpiece and diapers. You are useless MCMisled, MCMismatched and MCLiar.

Another "More than a thousand words" masterpiece! Thanks!

Sad but true!

Izzyis...Senator McCain, despite his bluster, has nowhere near the experience that many others who are better versed on the matter have. He has parlayed his POW status into a career, conveniently forgetting his barely marginal service record prior to his shootdown and long ago ceded any moral high ground with his adultery as an officer.

A T is the one with screw loose - i notice those around me who hate the fact of USA military is strong are the ones pushing this -- i personally am on the fence

I am absolutely amazed that my comment on the DADT subject was not accepted on the pretext that I have submitted "to many comments" this was my first comment on this subject. Or is it censorship by some element in The Washington Post ???

I must be missing something, Sen. McCain has the military experience to have a valid opinion of DADT and what would be the effect of Homosexuals in the military.
The problem is not about, on the battle field. When somebody is shooting at you it is more than likely one would shoot back.
The real problem is during the training periods, as has been demonstrated in the British military.

When soldiers were questioned, and I am not speaking of CNN-ABC "polls". I am speaking of soldiers on active duty, have voiced real concerns.

Those name callers and finger pointers have no military experience and are mouthing what they feel is politically correct. The politicians and the media are making this a big issue because they can not face the real problems in this country.

He's become such a cuddly little nutcase, hasn't he. Now we can keep him around to show the children what happens if they don't share their toys.

Great cartoon!! McCain is pathetic and should retire!

John McCain needs to hide his face because of the shame he brings to the nation. Look what he did of his VP pick in 2008. It is a big headache to both parties, still he continues to upset everyone in different fields. Time to step down senator and let others serve the nation!

McCain is clearly a homophobe. He just kept moving the goalposts until it was clear he would never support the repeal of DADT. He is too old, out of touch and should think about retirement. This brings me to another issue; whatever happened to term limits? Wasn't that part of the "Contract with America" way back in '94?

I still think he is a Senator who is way past his prime and needs to find another job or retirement!

The cartoon seemed like kind of a ham-handed cheap shot, but when it comes to open-borders insane McCain, I'm inclined to agree.

Could it be that Mr. McCain is actually gay? That would explain a lot about his position. Reaction formation.

Hahahahahahahahahahha!!! Perfect Anne!

McCain does have a screw loose and is beyond fixing! Thank you citizens of Arizona for putting this senile old puffed-up blowhard back in Congress where he will do NOTHING to make this country a better place in which to live. YOU people were as wrong about HIM as HE was about PALIN being his running mate.....but...... THANK GOD he did, otherwise McCain might just have been elected PRESIDENT of the UNITED STATES!!!

Just imagine what THAT would have done to this country!

John... you need to retire. If you love this country, save us from YOU!

Shuffle on off, John, please.

John McCain sounded like a pathetic old man.

Now if there had been a few marbles tossed from his brain, too, we would say he not only "had a screw loose" but that he was also "losing his marbles"!

John McCain is a "loser" and anybody who disagrees with him is a "winner."

McCain to his colleagues across the aisle:
"Get the hell off my lawn!"

This is one of the best cartoons in a long time. John McCain has a loose screw or two, and Ann depicts it beautifully. Hooray for the cartoonist.
