It's amazing to me that anyone could support Sara Palin. It should be clear to America that Sara is not ready for world state. She quit her job as governor of Alaska so what would she do as president? For all of her supporters it's clear that Repubs would rather have an uninformed, unintelligent and inferior president versus a highly edcuated black man such as President Obama. To compare the two is not fair; it's apples and rotten fruit!

Maybe this foray into "Fractured History" is what inspired Sarah-wannabe Michelle Bachman to launch herself into her own interesting rewrite of US History. The Founding Fathers of our nation evidently abhorred slavery so much that they were finally able to defeat it, after deciding that a slave was only 2/3 of a citizen. Also in Michelle's mind, it did not matter what your social or ethnic or religious background was, once you got to America, you were treated like everyone else. My Irish forebears would beg to differ.

So funny and sad at the same time. Palin is so dumb and immature. She'll say anything and make up stories to further her own agenda of self promotion while trying to hurt good people doing good work. This is what republicans are getting behind? They supported George W., so I guess so. They've had no good ideas, leadership, or class for over a decade but they still want people to vote for them? All votes in that direction are responsible for this mess. People who cast their votes in that direction have shown they have bad judgement. We need good judgement, not bad, in case you are not sure.

Obama's not smart enough to think up his own moments and themes so he has to steal them from others like the Sputnik moment from Kennedy and Winning the Future from Gingrich and the morons who voted for him don't even care because all they want is their welfare check so they can by more cigarettes.

Would it not be possible to return the feature of this comments page whereby one could recommend or disagree with postings. It is not enough to allow people to write nonsense or otherwise without some feedback that might be constructive. I also believe that if people signed their submissions with their real names, the result might be somewhat less abusive, more constructive.

It is so evident by the comments of the remaining Palin supporters that they also are not the brightest bulbs on the tree! She attracts and fascinates the Bubba's and the "Bubba"ettes'. There is no sane adult person with a brain who would EVER vote this educationally and socially starved woman into any responsible position. For cryin out loud, she can't even handle her job as "Mother". Her kids do it for her!

Sarah Palin trying to explain anything would be hilarious...if it wasn't so sad that this, the most ignorant, illiterate person on the planet, is the hero to so many. And then Sarah Palin holds her daughter Bristol up to us as the ideal American child: an unwed teenage mother who is also an illiterate, unemployed high school drop-out. Our enemies and our competitors LOVE the Tea Party and its philosophy that all human learning and knowledgde ended in the late 18th century.

Just wow. If this woman were elected to any kind of high office, even our allies would be laughing at us.

I am so sad for the people who are defending her. Give it a rest. She is a colossal failure! Find a real person you can get behind. She gave a good speech two years ago and that's it! Let it go.

If Palin wants to spout-off facts and figures about the Soviet economy, she should at lest do some research. The Soviet economy was experiencing economic growth in the late 60s and 70s; well after the launch of Sputnik.

...hey, let's just listen to Palin and the failed GOP, and go back to cut taxes / cut govt that we tried for the 3 decades of the Reagan/Bush era. In fact, let's get ANOTHER big tax cut to the wealthiest as we did in 1981 and 2001.

I mean, that worked SO well to deliver Trickle Down prosperity. Almost nobody is unemployed now. And the banks and oil drillers and health insurers, heck - they POLICED THEMSELVES!!! Get government out of the WAY by golly!

Palin's supporters have their daily list of comments to post when someone dares to criticize their lifeguard.
I see palin as someone that has trouble putting three words together without using a hand full of her standard cliches.
She only goes on Fox with Hannity and Greta where they hand-feed her questions. She still has trouble answering them in a coherent manner. The night she critiqued President Obama's State of the Union speech she had a mixture of her own words and some statements that she was reciting faster then her normal speaking voice. I doubt if she understood what she was saying.
That's just my opinion. She's not qualified intelligently to be President nor does she have the right temperament. She has demonstrated that she is petty and divisive.
I'm delighted that the tea-party conservatives Republicans have her in their corner.

When Sarah P. is mentioned the pages spontaneously combust. Who would ever think anyone so utterly stupid could incite so much hatred.

Maybe if we leave her alone she will disappear, vanish, evaporate. Maybe she will simply go back to Wisteria Lane or move in with the Kardashians - people who are more relevant to the twenty-first century.

Clueless Comrade Barry is even more stupid than what the Marxist Democrats say Governor Palin is and more senile at 49 than what the Marxist Democrats say President Reagan was at 85.

From Which war? Obama swaps Iraq and Afghanistan…

“Hit with a tough question about his administration’s policy in Afghanistan and Iraq on Thursday, President Obama made a muddled mess out of his plans for withdrawing troops from the region.

“Obama swapped Iraq for Afghanistan when he answered a question on YouTube about whether he still believes soldiers need to die in the wars there.”

skponggol ... that is utterly amazing that you could find any comparison from Nicolae Ceauşescu 20 years of authoritative rule to Obama's 2 years of democratic presidency. Too bad Palin can't engage in a Freedom 7 moment. For all the teapartiers, that is when we shot an astronaut into space. It would give her a chance to see parts of Russia she couldn't see from her house.

SPUTNIK MOMENT: Soviet space expert James Oberg comments:

“I’m seeing up close how ‘Palin Derangement Syndrome’ can compel otherwise intelligent people to foam at the mouth and babble nonsense to prove they’re right and she’s wrong. . .

"... It’s more complicated, but the essence is, Palin was right: the Soviets sowed the seed of their own collapse by setting off the Space Race.”

___________________________________________

Mr. Oberg is assuming the space race initiated the technological revolution that would change the way economies function thereby sowing the seeds of obsolesence in the Soviet's basic economic structure. That isn't what Ms. Palin said nor is it what she intended to mean. To convulute that into Ms. Palin was right would require a lebotomy.

P.S. anyone who thinks debt sank the Soviet Union is utterly ignorant of Soviet history and how their economy worked (or ultimately didn't work.)

Every time Palin opens her mouth, I'm amazed that she ever graduated from high school. Even more amazing that Alaskan's elected her governor. Unless their process is to give that job to the person always picked last for a team?

Here's a good exercise for you. Compare and contrast the economic situation of the United States today with the economic conditions in the Soviet Union just prior to its dissolution. (By the way, Sputnik and their space program weren't significant causes.)

Posted by: mhoust | January 28, 2011 12:58 PM | Report abuse

Btw why did Obama use the Sputnik analogy to compare US relation with China. Is Obama treating China as friend or foe ?

Obama has been bowing and kowtowing to us for so long. When our President just visited, Obama even allows an anti-US song to be played in the White House. Yet the moment our great President turned his back and left America, Obama stabs us in the back and portrays us as his #1 foe !!!

WTF !!!

As a Chinese proverb goes, when Obama drinks his water, he better remembers and be grateful to the source. China has been very generous in lending America money. Without the strong Chinese currency, America would have send its citizens to their death panels.

Listen up !! We are not your foe. We are your master and you are our slaves. We are your loan sharks ! Without our money, Americans would be in death panel by now.

Obama should stop opening his big fat mouth and should continue to bow and kowtow to us. If Obama ever dare to challenge the might of out great Chinese Empire, we'll do to you what you did to Britain during 1956 Suez Canal Crisis. We'll crush Barack Obama just like another rotten cockroach.

China Rules !

go for the dumb - I urge you because without dumb, we are not america.

And that's what this is about - folks all around respect, for some reason, the notion that she's a bonafide hick.

Now that's American progress right there, that idea of going backwards in intellect.

In this day I see no reason a person in Palin's position cannot actually learn new stuff to fill in all of the apparent gaps she has in politics and history in general - she skated by with other things in her war chest and "smarts" was not one of them.

Time the rubber hits the road, IMHO, and exposing a poser is a good start.

Palin is the Professor Irwin Corey of the Repuke party.
Her convoluted answers to everything take a round-trip ride to idiocy everytime she seeks to explain that which she knows nothing about. I agree with what a learned Republican teacher said about her, that she knows nothing about world history and even less about American history. How could she have earned a degree from college when she came on the scene believing that Canada was a state and didn't know the difference between North and South Korea and had to be taught these things by McCain staffers?
It is unbelievable what the Republicans have sunken to in the caliber of people they front as "leaders". fritz

ALl that I can say is "WTF???" This woman is laughable (albeit Tina Fey is a much better Sarah Palin than Sarah Palin is), and like millions of other Americans I look forward to her next gaffe. What do you expect from someone who barely scraped through bottom teir colleges so that she could become a TV weather girl and then isolated herself in the backwaters of a state that is proud of its isolationist attitudes.

Her statement about the Sputnik program is steeped in lunacy and ignorance. She probably had one of her brain trust (like Glen Beck) explain to her that it was JFK who responded agressively to the USSR's space program. Without Kennedy's intelligence and initiative Ronald Reagan would never have been in a position to end the Cold War as he did.

I think that the chance of Palin being elected to anything in the future is less than zero, so I am no longer scared of her.

By the way - whatever happened to her little Downs' Syndrome baby that she was so proud of (so proud that she only let Bristol carry it around)? If Palin had any morals, compassion, or virtue, she would spend her time working with the National Down Syndrome Society in fundraising and increasing public awareness of this birth defect. But that would mean doing something for someone else, which would be anathema for her.
