College Tour '10: Boston University
From a student
My Favorite School. Oh wait...haven’t I already called NYU my favorite school? This is where it gets tricky: I loved almost everything I saw at both schools. This will happen to you, too! Don’t worry, though, because chances are I will only get into one of them and the decision will be made for me. (Just kidding).
Let me give you an overview of my visit to the large, exciting, urban Boston University campus. Imagine this: I put on a dress for my visit, excited to go and explore. It’s overcast but not raining by the time I leave.
As the day goes on, the rain gets harder and harder – and I hate rain. The wind was so strong that the umbrella kept becoming inverted. I went to the interesting and funny information session, and then on the tour. I didn’t even care that my new leather cowboy boots were getting destroyed by the rain because BU was such a great place.
They have so many programs. One that caught my attention was a program where you can major in two schools. For example, I might major in the School of Education and the Business School. You graduate with two diplomas! I was also interested by how eclectic it was.
My tour guide was a sorority girl; the guy I sat at the table next to at lunch was wearing an army sweatshirt; the guy who held the door open for me had long dreadlocks; there were two girls wearing combat boots and leather jackets; two men wearing business suits and ties; guys walking around in shorts and T-shirts; girls in high-heeled boots and Converse.
Everything was at BU.
This is one in a series of reports that parents and students are contributing about their campus tours this spring. If you have visited a school and would like to participate, email me a brief report at firstname.lastname@example.org.
