College Tour '10: College of William & Mary
WILLIAMSBURG, VA.
College of William & Mary
From a student
Beautiful campus – the most beautiful one of all the schools I visited. Second oldest school in the country – impressive. Stellar academics. They have every type of tree (even a palm) on campus. The kids seem well-rounded, smart, and talented. Perfect for the person who wants a very campus-y campus and close-knit college. I am not one of them.
Furthermore, I wondered if there were a certain “type” of person that goes to William and Mary. Many of the kids I saw there were preppy. J. Crew collared shirts were everywhere; the second I got there I saw about a hundred girls coming out of a building with flowers in their hands, crying and wearing sorority T-shirts. Alas, William and Mary was not for me.
This is one in a series of reports that parents and students are contributing about their campus tours this spring. If you have visited a school and would like to participate, email me a brief report at theanswersheet@washpost.com.
