Gopnik's Daily Pic: Dan Steinhilber

Daily Pic: A wall sconce by Washington sculptor Dan Steinhilber, seen recently on a wall at G Fine Art, where his latest show lauches on Oct. 30. In classic Steinhilber style, it's made from half-crushed water bottles. Some might see his move into functional objects as some kind of sellout, but I feel it has the potential to infect design with the values of art.
