Gopnik's Daily Pic: Kirchner's "Infinity"
By Blake Gopnik
The latest feed from my morning musings about art and objects at www.blakegopnik.com.
Daily Pic: John Kirchner's "Infinity," at Conner Contemporary Art. The great thing about snapshots is that they capture the casually seen, then allow for its extended contemplation. So how about a snapshot in 3D? You could say that's what Kirchner has given us. He found his 1955 Chris Craft cabin cruiser in a cornfield in Indiana, via eBay, then had it dragged back to DC and installed inside Conner. The boat already had its name, so best not to make too much of it. It's just something seen, looked at again.
