A Venus on R Street
As my tenth anniversary Galleries column approaches this Friday, I've taken to reminiscing. Remember when Dupont Circle was a gallery hub? Those First Friday wine-and-cheese slogs along Connecticut Avenue and R Street yielded some of the city's best art. Nowadays, other than Marsha Mateyka and a few lesser lights, the only art you'll see on R is this armless Venus guarding Ms. Elaine's psychic shop.
