Inside the former East Germany

In today's column I wrote about a sharp group show at Goethe-Institut downtown. These pictures come from Margret Hoppe's series "The Chamber," documenting a now-defunct East German athletic training facility built in the late 1970s. Remember those intense, super-built DDR Olympians? They trained here. Their stationary bikes are particularly endearing.
