Judith Jamison Honored

Judith Jamison, artistic director of the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater, has received a National Award for Citizen Diplomacy from the U.S. Center for Citizen Diplomacy. The award, given to seven honorees, recognizes "extraordinary work to increase American citizen engagement in international affairs and their outstanding contributions in fostering cross-cultural understanding."

Jamison will be presented with the award in Washington on Nov. 17 during the U.S. Summit for Global Citizen Diplomacy.

The U.S. Center for Citizen Diplomacy was formed in July 2006 to focus on the importance and value of citizen diplomacy. The center is headquartered in Des Moines, Iowa.
