Kanye, Alicia choose Fashion over Grammys

By Katherine Boyle

A lot of people need better calendars. First, the master planners at Buckingham Palace scheduled Kate and Wills' nuptials for the weekend we media types are set to celebrate a more dysfunctional marriage of press and president at the White House Correspondents' Dinner. (Surely, the Brits misplaced our fax.)

Celebrities and aspiring scenesters had to make the difficult choice between two publicity tours: Grammy hoopla or Fashion Week row hopping?
Two different coasts, same party set.

Thankfully for the fashion world, a good number of celebrities didn't let their Grammy aspirations affect their Fashion Week showings. Despite double bookings, a number of famous faces appeared on front rows this weekend.

For Peter Som's Saturday morning show, WWD reports that Dee and Tommy Hilfiger attended, along with fashion darlings The Sartorialist's Scott Schuman and Amanda Brooks, author of the popular style guide "I Love Your Style."

Kanye West, Alicia Keys, Anna Wintour and model-turned-jewelry designer Erin Wasson were spotted in the front row of Alexander Wang's anticipated show.
Charlotte Ronson, always drawing from her slew of hip young friends and siblings, brought in sister Samantha Ronson, Kim Kardashian, Mena Suvari, and Olivia Munn. Man about New York (and Wes Anderson films) Waris Ahluwalia also sat front and off-center, possibly to promote his new jewelry line "Waris Loves You."

We also spotted wordsmith Leandra Medine, blogger and creator of "The Man Repeller," leaving Ronson's show, and fame-shy actress Julia Stiles showed off a fresh face at Cynthia Rowley earlier that morning.

And looking for a little DC kind-of-celebrity love? We spotted DC Housewife Mary Amons in Lincoln Center this morning before Lela Rose's packed show. True to housewife form, she tweeted that she'll be "walking the red carpet" (not the catwalk) for Marc Bouwer's show set to be filmed in 3D.
