(e)merge art fair opens applications
The application process for artists who want to compete for places in the new (e)merge art fair has started.
The fair, which takes place Sept. 22-25 in Washington, is one of the few art events that will showcase new artists and, through their work, document how the yet-undiscovered are reacting to contemporary events and choosing subjects.
Galleries, nonprofits and artists without gallery representation can apply through the (e)merge website: www.emergeartfair.com. The deadline is May 2.
The fair is being organized by Helen Allen, founder and former executive director of PULSE Contemporary Art Fair, held annually in New York and Miami, and Leigh Conner and Jamie Smith, co-founders of Washington's Conner Contemporary Art.
The event will be held at the Capitol Skyline Hotel, owned by the Rubell family. who are well-known collectors of contemporary art, and Mera Rubell will be among the judges of the submissions.
