A Parade! A Parade! In Philly?

That's right folks, you weren't dreaming: The Phillies really did win the World Series. Now they get to party, bring absolute mayhem to the City of Brotherly Love in a parade that's already underway. If you're a Mets or Rays fan, this would probably be the time to turn away now.

This blog is chronicling the parade as it passes by different city landmarks, though there don't seem to be any major disruptions or outbursts like there were on Wednesday night. You know, like this, this or this. Unlike past incidents, we can all relax about Santa Claus safety, though. At least one man in a St. Nick suit has taken to a more Ghandi-like stance. We'll see if the Philadelphia fans listen to his pleas of non-holiday violence.

Just in case you thought the Philly fans might take the celebration easy, check out these photos. Pretty impressive. According to a number of sources, the crowds are at least 10-deep throughout the entire route.

We'll add video as soon as we can get our hands on it, or feel free to provide links to youtube-age or other Philly celebration clips if you trip across them (you can also watch the parade on ESPN360 if your service provide allows it ... i.e., if you have AT&T Broadband).

UPDATED: Here's your official raw footage video of the parade from the AP, via Comcast Sportsnet. If you're interested in more video, well, bless you. And here's a full list of more parade video than you could ever want to sift through, though, in fairness, none are as emphatic as the post-Game 5 celebration clip natsfan1a1 has provided below. Ouch.

Just read the Boz chat from Friday. I agree that Rocco's postseason was super. Such a great story, and I'm thinking that with some teams he would not have remained on the roster. I liked this story about his meeting with a young Phillies fan who has the same disorder:

Leave it to Utley to sum it up his usual class (not).

er, "with" his usual...

Great story on Rocco. Thanks.

The Rays are a unlikely to pick up his option, which was signed before he started to develop his injuries. One can hope he can play as a 4th OF in a platoon with a lefty bat. Inspirational guy.

Truly an inspirational story. Hope that he might be able to platoon as you say. Whatever happens, great for him (and the team) that he was able to take part in the playoffs and WS.
