Brett Myers Is No Cole Hamels
We're done with one half-inning here in Philly, and Phillies starter Brett Myers has already allowed more baserunners than Cole Hamels did in eight innings yesterday. After Mike Cameron struck out to lead off the game, the Brewers went walk-double-intentional walk-walk. The double was Ryan Braun's. The intentional walk was (of course) to Prince Fielder. The bases-loaded walk was to J.J. Hardy. There was also a mound visit from the pitching coach, which was one more mound meeting than Hamels required yesterday.
So what does Corey Hart do on the first pitch from Myers following the third straight walk? He swings at the first pitch -- tapping it back to the mound for a 1-2-3 double play. That's some inexcusable, Felipe-Lopez-type of stuff.
It's 1-0 Brewers and CC Sabathia taking the mound.
