Tampa Bay, Detroit Raise Prices. What?
Surely it's a sign of the Apocalypse when the Tampa Bay Rays are raising ticket prices and -- gasp! -- adding a tier of specially priced "marquee" games to their 2009 ticket plan.
Not really. You can't blame the Rays for taking advantage of that amazing season. They are raising single game tickets $1 to $5, depending on location.
However, more amazing than the Rays raising ticket prices: The Detroit Tigers raised theirs. This story includes Dave Dombrowski's thinking.
The economy is bad all over, but it may be worse in Michigan than anywhere else in the country. Oh, and the Tigers were expected to make the Series last year and instead they, uh, didn't. To put it mildly. (Disclaimer: I am a Detroit Tigers fan. But dudes!)
