It's Quiet ... Too Quiet
It was a quiet weekend on the free agency front. Here are a few stories worth checking out on Day 4.
You've heard about the record $140 million offer the Yankees have made to Sabathia. Brewers GM Doug Melvin says it's too much.
This is from Sunday, but still worth mentioning: ESPN's Pedro Gomez reports the Sox were
on the verge of suspending Manny before he was dealt to the Dodgers:
Also from Sunday, but offered for the weird factor: The Chicago Sun-Times editorial board says Kerry Wood is a Chicagoan for life.
Speaking of Manny, Bill Plaschke of the LA Times says the Dodgers should spend their money elsewhere.
This is depressing: Remember Willie Mays Aikens? He writes to Kansas City Star readers about his problems with drinking and drugs.
And finally, New York Timesman Tyler Kepner (former Post intern who got away) led me to this video that makes me heart Nick Swisher.
