Furcal To the Braves?

The Atlanta Braves' aggressive offseason continues, as they are reportedly a physical exam away from wrapping up shortstop Rafael Furcal, which could be the precursor to a major trade for a front-line starting pitcher.

The Braves were already set in their middle infield, with Yunel Escobar at shortstop and Kelly Johnson at second base, but the addition of Furcal would almost certainly signal the trade of one of those pieces. At one time, Escobar was a major figure in trade talks with the San Diego Padres regarding ace Jake Peavy, and those talks could be revisited. They also reportedly have discussed Zack Greinke with the Kansas City Royals.

Another interesting side note: While details of Furcal's deal have yet to emerge, he may have left money on the table (perhaps even one guaranteed year) by turning down the Oakland A's to sign with the Braves.

One thing that got me thinking about a potential nats deal for Peavy was the outline of Peavy / Escobar deal. Per MLBTR, it was Escobar, Gorkys Hernandez, one starting pitcher, and either a position prospect or a major league reliever. To me, that sounds like Milledge, Lannan, A-Gon, plus X (Milledge and Lannan > Gorkys and JoJo Reyes / Charlie Morton, A-Gon being
