At Camden Yards: Sunshine, Vitriol
For the first time in my 10-plus years covering baseball at The Post, I had to consult a seating chart to find my spot in the press box at Oriole Park at Camden Yards -- owing to the fact The Post decided to stop covering the Orioles this season, which means we no longer have a permanent seat. But I'm fine with that. At least they didn't put me on the roof, or out in the bleachers.
The press box is packed -- a holy convergence of Japanese media following New York's Hideki Matsui and Baltimore's Koji Uehara, the always swarming New York contingent, and a big showing from local outlets focusing largely on local product Mark Teixeira -- and the Orioles' media relations staff is saying it could be the biggest media crowd here since Cal Ripken's final game.
But the rain is gone, the sun is out and we're expecting to be underway on time, a little after 4 p.m., after this guy throws out the ceremonial first pitch.
Great pregame scene that took place near the Yankees' dugout, as Teixeira -- who, as we hardly need to remind you, chose the Yankees this winter over the Orioles and Nationals, among others -- emerged into view of the fans packed behind the dugout. As Teixeira stepped onto the field to tape a TV interview, a trio of teenaged Orioles fans immediately began heckling him.
"We hate you!"
"Sellout!"
"You're just a corporate whore!"

Don't be hatin' Tex... They should hate their team's idiot owner for guiding their team to 11 (soon to be 12) straight losing seasons. No wonder no one decent wants to play for that team.
GO YANKS!!!

Today O's fans speak for Nats fans.
Have they shown this on the Jumbotron yet?

Gee Dave, I was beginning to think the Orioles moved to Montreal. This is the first ink that has been spilled on the O's in almost a week.
With two last place teams in our area, we need The Post to cover BOTH franchises from BOTH LEAGUES. Therefore, we can at least know which team finished in last place by fewer games.

Ha! Doesn't sound like anyone was there to cover Joe Biden.

Hey booogers,
At least we didn't spend 300 million just to come in third in the AL East. Seeing the Stankys lose is almost as fun as watching the O's win!

Vitriol...is that the latest performance enhancing drugs being used by MLB "athletes"?

Hey, what's with the derogatory comment about the bleachers. I sat in the bleachers today and had a great time!

My most frequent seat selection in any park is the upper deck.
p.s. Let us not forget Bill Veeck's words:
"I have discovered in 20 years of moving around a ballpark, that the knowledge of the game is usually in inverse proportion to the price of the seats."

You sure Peter Angelos wasn't standing near those three teenage O's fans, Dave?
