Moment of Levity: The Big Picture
AND AFTER THE GAME, YOU WATCH RUNNERS
This is the exact scene from a prior Marathon Day Red Sox game, complete with packed crowd and (evidently) decent weather. The early start at Fenway Park was originally installed so the game would finish in time for fans to see some runners finish. After the race moved its start time from noon to 10 a.m. in 2007, the team and the Boston Athletic Association decided to maintain the early start for the sake of tradition. From the new Green Monster seats, fans can now turn around an hour into the game and watch the lead runners pass on Commonwealth Ave. (Susan Walsh/AP)
