Three Up, Three Down
Manny A.: Nats' skipper still employed despite media reports of his imminent firing. Even feels confident enough to cancel that U-Haul rental and unpack his suitcases.
Manny R.: Dodgers' LF set to begin Triple-A stint to prepare for return from suspension. Per tradition, agrees to buy clubhouse spread, doses of female fertility drugs for teammates.
Fake umpires: Two Toronto fans in full umpire garb show up in high-priced seats at Nats Park, imitating real umps. Stunt goes too far when they order grounds crew to put tarp over infield.
Zim: Nats' 3B mired in 0-for-17 slump, hitting .221 since 30-game hit streak ended. Probably should have resisted getting hitting tips from teammate A. Kearns.
K. Rosenthal: FoxSports scoopmaster stands by initial report of Acta's firing. Nats' front office refuses to concede he was right, vows to wait for retraction before doing the deed.
ARod: Yankees' 3B benched for "fatigue." Insert own Madonna joke here.

Hey Dave - in the tradition of 3 up / 3 down and talking behind their back, how about 3 things the Nats could learn from the Red Sox and 3 things you never want the Nats to do like the Red Sox?
Throw in whatever shot you want at the fanbase, but at least they show. I was digging through my old baseball ticket stubs the other day and came across my first visit to Memorial Stadium back in 1986: Oil Can Boyd's last start before he learned he would not be on the All Star team and pulled a classic Oil Can blow up. When I first interviewed for a job in Washington, my excuse for missing work was that I was going to the Red Sox series in Baltimore that weekend (it was a Monday or Friday interview). Then, after I moved to Bosotn, I came down in late April 2002 for a Pedro start on a day trip from Manchester, NH with my brother. We did not even rent a car. SouthWest to BWI to the LRV from the airport.
