Three Up, Three Down

K. Rosenthal: Fox Sports uber-reporter gets scoop on Acta firing, which still hasn't occurred. Maybe it's just us, but we would've told the manager before leaking to the media.

S. Strasburg: No developments of late with Nats' first-round pick, but agent S. Boras is paying us fifty bucks a week to remind everyone how extraordinary he is.

Rockies: NL West underachievers fire manager, go on 11-game winning streak. A traumatic change in the dugout jolting the team to life? Is that how that works?

M. Acta: Nats skipper becoming sentimental with rumors swirling around him, gazing back fondly on the salad days of Nook Logan, Rob Fick and Jason Simontacchi.

Cavaliers: U-Va. on edge of elimination in College World Series. Apparently this bunch of stiffs simply can't beat anyone not named "Strasburg."

Draft picks: Below-slot signings of No. 10 overall D. Storen and No. 81 T. Holder reveal truth about Nats' draft strategy: Strasburg is Gladys Knight, everyone else is the Pips.

The Nationals made the right move after selecting Strasburg by taking Storen.

There is no closer candidate in the organization from A to AAA and there is certainly no one on the major league club who has shown they can emerge.

This was the weakest overall spot on the team (and again in the system).

Next is better infield defense which the club addressed in Round 2 with Kobernus.

You really can't argue with the draft of Starting Pitcher - Closer - 2nd Baseman with the top 3 picks in the draft.

If there was a blue chip center fielder with speed and power at the plate I would have taken him in the top 10, but there were few position players this year that really got anyone excited at at the top of the heap.

Hey Dave, if Rosenthal gets the thumbs-up for his scoop, shouldn't there be a corresponding thumbs-down for you and Boz for getting scooped by him?

Care to amend your UVA thumbs-down?

If Rosenthal is wrong, will there be a retraction?

Two words: Grant Green

Virginia's a "bunch of stiffs" for (after tonight) being one of the top 6 teams in the nation????

Let's see, they're a "downer" since they lost against a single game to the odds on favorite to win.

I guess only eliminated the No. 2 NCAA tournament seed last night, giving strasburg's his only loss, beating the No. 1 team in Nation (UC Irvine) TWICE in a row, beating 3 top 20 teams in the ACCs, Clemson, UNC (crushing 1st rounder Alex White), and Florida St; it all counts for nothing.

Apparently, your feeble quest for "glib" remarks and off-the-cuff cutesy generalizations has come up woefully short.
