Three Up, Three Down

Zim: Nats 3B makes first all-star team three months after signing $45 million contract. Majestic Athletic apparel agrees to make special uniform saying "Natinal" League.

Nyjer: New CF Morgan impresses Nats teammates with stellar defense, leadoff skills. After 4 ½ years and too many Nooks and Endys, have Nats finally found their CF of the future?

E. Wedge: Indians manager to keep job at least through end of season, says GM. Gee, a franchise putting an end to manager's job speculation with definitive statement? How novel.

Big Donkey: A. Dunn snubbed for All-Star Game despite 22 homers. Will spend break sleeping instead, in hopes he wakes up and realizes signing with Nats was just a nightmare.

LMillz, Elijah: OFs Milledge, Dukes, once considered big parts of Nats' future, banished in separate roster moves. May not resurface in majors again--unless J. Bowden gets another job.

Rangers: Financially strapped franchise reportedly turns to MLB rainy-day fund to meet payroll. Nats inquire whether same bailout funds are available to pay S. Strasburg.

Watch them fire him anyway, while Acta survives.

Hicks should sell the team if he can't make payroll. These billionaires crying poor is just outrageous.

Now is the time to move Elijah - while someone out there might think he still has great potential.

Asst.GM: That's why you're the assistant,Dukes will be back and he will thrive all be it not in a Nats uniform, the kid has stayed out of trouble. The fact that he hasn't met some of your expectations speaks volumes about your knowledge of the game and this Nationals franchise, Elijah needs a mentor like a Frank Robinson i'll say this if Frank was still connected with this franchise Dukes would be doing a hell of a lot better. I'm hoping that do indeed trade him and he gets a much needed confidence boost with a new team.

Dave,
I just read your chat from today, (July 13) and am shocked that no one googled the answer to who the last player manager was.
It took me 10 seconds to go to Google and type in last player manager in MLB. It took 1 second for the answer to pop up and say Pete Rose was the last player manager in MLB history.
Kessinger City must not have done any research with the Don Kessinger answer.
