Moment of Levity: The Big Picture

Forget shoes and cars, Nick Swisher is thinking outside the box with his promotional endeavors. First up? Shaving cream, courtesy a walk-off on Tuesday night and a shaving cream pie from teammate A.J. Burnett. Wonder how much he's getting for his Brandi Chastain moment, no?

Moment of Levity: The Big Picture

Giants shortstop Freddie Sanchez needed a little help getting over San Diego's Chase Headley earlier this week, so he dialed into his legendary hopscotch career from elementary school. Legend has it that a young Sanchez once had 12 straight perfect hopscotch runs before the course had to be re-chalked.

Scott Feldman: King of the Road

Of all the reasons for the Rangers' continued push toward a Wild Card berth -- consistent hitting throughout the lineup, a deep bullpen, contributions from scrap heap players like Andruw Jones and Marlon Byrd -- none may be more significant that the evolution of Scott Feldman into a No. 1 starter.

The Press vs. Fernando Rodney

According to a piece by the Detroit News' Tom Gage, MLB's vice president for On-Field Operations, Tom Watson, may have been swayed to suspend the Detroit reliever because of a letter sent in by the St. Petersburg Times' Marc Topkin, a beat writer who also happens to be the chairman of the Tampa Bay chapter of the Baseball Writers Association.

Moment of Levity: The Big Picture

The amazing thing about this shot is that at first, we really did think this was Orlando Hudson setting himself up for the world's highest infield pop fly. He really needs to get more elaborate with the celebratory antics if you ask us. Maybe he can take a cue from the Brewers?

Clayton Kershaw's Curious Injury

Dodgers starter Clayton Kershaw injured himself chasing a fly ball during batting practice on Sunday, crashing into an outfield wall as if he was doing a Torii Hunter impression.

Grand Theft Ocho

After 12 straight years of losing, it seems as though some Baltimore folk are feeling a bit larcenous. As a result, Cal Ripken's No. 8 statue went missing from Camden Yards.

Apparently It's Not a Celebration

For years, critics of the National Football League have dubbed the NFL the "No Fun League." The same may be occurring within Major League Baseball as a pair of celebrations has drawn criticism and, in one case, suspension as MLB may now stand for "Most-Likely Boring."

A Closer Crisis in Philly

In the City of Brotherly Love, it is a good day to be a sports-talk-radio host, a newspaper columnist or Ryan Madson's agent. It is a bad day to be Brad Lidge, or for that matter Charlie Manuel. Whatever that was we witnessed from the Phillies on Tuesday night at...
