How Bad Is the Giants' Offense?
As the Giants fade from the playoff picture, we are about to be denied the small pleasure that would have come from seeing the team with the worst offense in the major leagues (at least as defined by team OPS) playing in the postseason.

When Prospects Go Bad
According to the Associated Press, Angel Villalona, a 19-year-old Dominican prospect who was given a $2.1 million signing bonus in 2006, has been charged with murder in connection with the Saturday night shooting death of a man named Mario Felix de Jesus Velete in La Romana, Dominican Republic.

Moment of Levity: The Big Picture
Giants shortstop Freddie Sanchez needed a little help getting over San Diego's Chase Headley earlier this week, so he dialed into his legendary hopscotch career from elementary school. Legend has it that a young Sanchez once had 12 straight perfect hopscotch runs before the course had to be re-chalked.

Is the National League Really That Easy?

The Dodgers Got Better Overnight
Yes, despite some pretty horrendous defending by Manny Ramirez and a loss to the cellar-dwelling Diamondbacks, the Dodgers suddenly look a lot deeper and more formidable for the postseason, thanks to two last second moves that added significant pieces to their puzzle just before the deadline for players to be made eligible for postseason rosters.
